The Chronicoms went back in time to end SHIELD. Their plan was precise and it hindered all on one man. It hindered on Wilfred Malick. Malick was the father of Giddeon Malick and he was the future head of HYDRA. If there was no Malick, there was no HYDRA and therefore no SHIELD because SHIELD rose up to deal with the threat of HYDRA. HYDRA has been their enemy for decades. SHIELD has always wanted to take them down and yet they couldn’t let the organization die now. They had to save it. It was the only to preserve the future they came from and so the agents had to protect this Freddy.
Freddy was with Mack. Mack was continuing the mission and it was destined. He was taking Freddy to drop off the point that he was originally scheduled to attend. Mack didn’t know Freddy’s identity or that he was helping in the creation of HYDRA. He was just following the mission. Mack was out of contact with the rest of his team and so they couldn’t contact him. Nor did they want him to stray from his current path. The agents had talked about it and the majority agreed the timeline should go ahead. Daisy had considered letting Freddy die. She thought their future might be the better for it and the others said the future might actually be worse if something else rose up in HYDRA’s place.
The team also couldn’t teach Freddy to be a better man. This again would change their future and leave them with something possibly worse than before. The team had to let Freddy live out his timeline. He had to be evil and his son had to be evil. The team even had to save the woman that was with Freddy. They didn’t know who she was and still, they saved her life. They operated on her at Koenig’s. They were still there when the Chronicops came. The team hid in a back room and Koenig himself dealt with the cops. The Chronicoms almost caught them when the woman they saved had woken up and knocked over a bottle.
Only Koenig pretended it was rats. The Chronicoms moved on and Koenig told the team the coast was clear. They were now free to talk and they wanted to talk to the mystery woman. They wanted to know who she is. She claimed to be a friend of Freddy’s father and she said she was just helping him get a leg up. She was also pretending to be harmless. It was Simmons who saw through her. Simmons found the woman’s passport and she’s been to Germany six times in the past year. Simmons also found a residue on the woman’s shoe that she tested. She later learned that it was a part of the formula used by the Red Skull and that it would go on to become the formula for the Super Soldier Serum.
This serum changed WWII. Mack and Deke should know what they were dealing with. Enoch tried contacting them. He used their radio to get a few words in. It just wasn’t enough for Mack to piece everything together and they really needed his opinion before they could move on. Daisy thought the serum changed things for their mission. She told the others it was too dangerous to get out and she said Mack as the Director would want to work against it. She reminded Coulson that Mack was the Director because Coulson still believed in following the timeline. He didn’t care about the serum or HYDRA. All he cared about was the mission.
Daisy asked their newfound hostage were Freddy was going. She knew Mack would be there with him and so their hostage said their friends would be going to hell. The team hadn’t known what she meant by that, but Koenig did and he demanded that they take him with them or he wasn’t going to help them. Koenig said Freddy was going to a place called Hell’s Harbor. Its where double-crossers go to get crossed and he was the only one who knew the location. Koenig wanted to go with the team. The team had to bring him along and so they brought him back to a ship. They came back just in time because May had wanted to go after Mack.
May was fighting with Enoch because he didn’t want to allow her off the ship. Only she was winning until she saw Coulson. May went into shock after she saw him and she calmly let herself be sedated by Simmons. Simmons thought her behavior was odd. She didn’t see much of a reaction from May about Coulson suddenly being alive and so they all moved past it for now. They focused on getting to Mack. They were traveling to join up with him when they got the alert. The time window was closing. They had less than twenty minutes to complete the mission and head back to their correct timeline. Simmons said if they missed it might be twenty-four weeks before they get another chance. And so they had to go.
Daisy tried contacting Mack and Deke. She finally got through to Deke and she told him to kill Freddy. She revealed Freddy’s real name. She also told Deke that he would be saving thousands if he just killed Freddy now and so she put Deke in an uncomfortable position. Deke has gotten to know Freddy. He likes him and he doesn’t want to kill him. He also doesn’t want people to die. Deke pulled his gun on Freddy and Mack ordered him to stand down. Mack was told the truth and he still said the same thing. Mack believed in preserving the timeline. He convinced Deke not to kill Freddy and then they were attacked by Chronicoms.
All they had was one gun. They eventually ran out of ammo and so it’s a good thing their team arrived. Freddy ran off in the chaos. He wanted to make his delivery no matter what and Koenig caught up with him. Koenig tried to stop him. He was shot for his troubles and Freddy sill went with his new friends. Freddy joined HYDRA. He left Koenig behind and so Enoch found him. Enoch couldn’t help Koenig. He didn’t have the time. Or at least that’s what he thought. Enoch raced back to the ship and unfortunately, he missed it. His team ended up leaving him behind because they ran out of time. And so Enoch went to work for Koenig.
It turns out they developed SHIELD together.
