The Perrio family needed help. The trio of siblings were all big. They all weighed somewhere between the six hundred and seven hundred range and they needed to lose the weight before it could cost them their lives. The siblings set out to lose weight together. They visited Dr. Now and they asked him for his assistance. He told them what they had to do. He set them on a path to surgery and unfortunately not all of the siblings rose to the occasion. Roshanda and her brother Clarence continued to gain weight. Their sister Brandie was the first to be approved for surgery. She was actually losing the weight she was supposed to and that’s mainly because she was the first among her siblings to stick to the diet.

The next one to be approved was Clarence. He started off as nearly the smallest among them and he eventually got his act together. He started to lose weight on his own. He did it himself and away from his siblings because he had stayed home to take care of their father while they had moved to be closer to Dr. Now. It was therefore very obvious that something was wrong with Roshanda. She was sent to therapy and several sessions with Dr. Clay seemed to help. She finally was losing weight afterward. She was even approved for surgery and she had to ask for an extension because of an issue at home. She pushed back her surgery by a month. She was told that was fine as long as she kept losing weight and didn’t gain.

Roshanda went to the next check-in with her siblings. They weren’t losing as much weight as they should have been. Their weight-loss had slowed down significantly and so they needed to work on that. But once again Roshanda gained weight. She put back on over twenty pounds and she almost lost out on her chance to get surgery. Dr. Now decided to overlook her current setback and he scheduled her surgery a couple of weeks from then. He first wanted her to lose more. He felt and she knew that she needed to course-correct her actions. She was advised by Dr. Now. He was worried the siblings were hurting each other with enabling and so they tried to prove him wrong.

The siblings moved in together again. They felt they needed to lean on each other to lose the weight and so the sisters came back from Houston. They all moved into the same house in Louisiana. They shared the same meals and encouraged each other to go on walks. It must have helped because Roshanda was doing better at her next check-in. The doctor had liked what he saw and so Roshanda finally had her weight-loss surgery. She had her surgery and she had to recover more or less on her own because her siblings weren’t in the area. They both lived in a different state now. Roshanda had to recuperate on her own and she had to go through the early motions of physical therapy on her own.

Roshanda lost another forty-six pounds while she was recovering. She was doing amazing without her siblings and so there was apprehension about her going back home. Dr. Now still considered the relationship she has with her siblings to be dysfunctional. He couldn’t forbid her from seeing them and so he tried to give her enough tools to overcome her relationships. Both the doctor and Roshanda came up with a goal for her. She was supposed to be under four hundred pounds by her birthday. Roshanda promised she would get there and she stumbled along the way. Her siblings were being more active in developing their own lives. She didn’t really have the support she thought she needed to lose the weight.

Roshanda tends to define herself by her relationships with her siblings. She doesn’t really know how to operate without them. Even her birthday was built around the idea of them being together and her siblings were each given a chance to shine at the event. Roshanda was supposed to be showing off her dramatic weight loss and it wasn’t as dramatic as she thought because she didn’t get down into the four hundred. She was still in the five hundred. She didn’t reach her goal and the next check-in the family had didn’t end well. Brandie and Clarence were at the stage where they should be losing twenty pounds per pounds and instead they lost twenty pounds in all.

They weren’t losing the weight fast enough. Roshanda also took comfort in the fact they had failed to reach their goal and it made her feel better about herself. She was worried she wouldn’t meet her own goal. It turns out she didn’t. She lost ten pounds since she last saw the doctor and so all of the siblings were a disappointment this month. Dr. Now worst fear was happening. The siblings were enabling each other and their bad habits were keeping them from reaching their goals. Roshanda was the worst of them. She just had surgery and her stomach should be smaller yet she wasn’t dropping the weight as much as she should.

Roshanda wasn’t losing the weight because she was feeling left behind. Her siblings were going off and doing their own things and she felt left out. Brandie was focusing on her career. Clarence was considering a job in the oil field and that too will take him away for several weeks. It would leave Roshanda on her own. Her brother had felt bad about that and so he took to get pedicures. Clarence and Roshanda spent the day together. They talked about him wanting to go back into the oil field. He worked there before and its what he knows. He would feel comfortable if he could get back to it. It was just Roshanda being on her own that was stopping him.

Only the therapist was telling Roshanda she needed to be more independent. She has to start focusing on herself and her own goals. Roshanda didn’t know how to start. She kept falling back on her relatives and their next check-in had been even worse than their last. Roshanda was the only one truly losing weight. Albeit not enough to count. Clarence loses eight pounds and Brandi surprised them all by putting on back over seventy pounds. Her job usually means she’s around a party and so Brandi has been partying a lot. She’s clearly broken her diet because of it. Drinking probably also doesn’t help and junk food doesn’t help.

Roshanda has also been eating junk food. She’s lost and gained weight all in a month. Its why she’s not showing enough progress. Roshanda confessed to Dr. Now what’s been going on. He told her she needed to change her behavior and at the time his chief concern was Brandie. Brandie’s backsliding had been huge. She had to talk through it with Lola Clay and her siblings went with her. They realized they needed to work on their dynamic. Clarence was hesitant about therapy because he thought he was doing well and it turns out his sisters had needed all the help they could get. Brandie managed to find a way to continue binge eating in spite of her smaller stomach.

Brandi was binging on everything that was unhealthy. She also wanted to address her issues and the issues within the family except she received some pushback from Clarence who liked to claim he was fine. He doesn’t think he has a problem. He later stormed out of the session because he didn’t think he should stay there and so him walking off like that was part of the problem. The therapist felt all three siblings suffer from the inability to emotionally self-regulate. They feel like all they have is each other and their over-reliance on each other isn’t healthy. They didn’t see it that way. Clarence came to believe he was fine with losing weight on his own and he later began ignoring appointments with Dr. Now.

Brandie went back to focusing on her music. Her weight-loss journey had to take a step back to accommodate her career and so that left Roshanda. Roshanda who still didn’t know how to do this all on her own.

THE END!
