The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers tease that Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) will find herself terribly worried about her brother Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson).
As B&B viewers know, John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) recently noticed some oddities about Thomas during a conversation they were having. Thomas seemed very inwardly distracted and he clearly said that he thought that Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) wanted him rather than Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton).
Well, when Finn went to Steffy and reported Thomas’ odd behavior, Steffy immediately got worried. Of course, Steffy was operating from the assumption that Thomas might be obsessed with Hope again, and she certainly wasn’t thinking that Thomas might have a serious mental illness.
But according to B&B spoilers, Thomas will eventually be diagnosed with a very serious psychological disorder, and according to Matthew Atkinson it will be paranoid schizophrenia.
Well, given how close Thomas and Steffy have always been, Thomas’ diagnosis is going to be a huge blow to Steffy.
A while back, Steffy opened up to Finn about how the death of her sister Phoebe Forrester (MacKenzie Mauzy) was a great void in her life, and it’s been made clear on the show just how much Steffy and Thomas care about each other.
The siblings may not always see eye-to-eye, but they share a strong bond, and the fear of losing Thomas to a serious mental illness will be horrifying for Steffy.
Of course, paranoid schizophrenia can be quite serious, with patients undergoing episodes of severe paranoia and fear of the outside world. It’s conceivable that Thomas could be institutionalized for a period of time, although it’s also possible that with medication, he could eventually function quite well.
Still, Steffy will have to grieve the loss of her brother as she knew him and get used to an entirely new version of Thomas.
The positive thing for Steffy is that she’ll have a strong support system in place. Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) will surely be there for his daughter, and vice versa. And Steffy will have Finn, too.
One of the many nice things about Finn is that he’s a medical doctor, and he can quite possibly help the family to get Thomas into a reputable mental health facility, which should provide some comfort to Steffy.
But mostly, Steffy is going to need emotional support from someone solid, and Finn will be able to fit the bill. And perhaps Finn is just the right person to give Steffy support, since he doesn’t have a complicated history with Thomas.
It would be difficult, for example, for Steffy to get support from Liam or Hope after everything that Thomas has done to them. Finn will be able to fully appreciate the brother/sister bond that Steffy’s got with Thomas and not judge what Thomas has done in the past.
In fact, we expect that Steffy and Finn’s bond will only strengthen as Finn helps Steffy to get through this difficult time.
Steffy will need to take care of herself, since she’s fresh out of recovery from a harrowing mental health ordeal herself, and Finn can make sure that Steffy does what she needs to do for her own recovery while supporting her brother.
