Tonight on FOX their new medical drama The Resident airs with an all-new Tuesday, March 3, 2020, episode and we have your The Resident recap below. Red Rock decides to cut the entire OBGYN department and Logan Kim leaves Conrad with the difficult task of letting the residents go. Meanwhile, Nic cares for a teenage patient whose condition is deteriorating.”

Nadine’s father is coming to town. The King was coming for her birthday. It’s her twenty-fifth and he wants to host a gala in honor of it. Her father also wanted to invite the team of doctors that saved her life to this gala as well. He wanted to thank them personally and to do that he had to meet them. Devon was sorta dating Nadine now. He wasn’t prepared to meet his girlfriend’s father or a King and so he tried taking a day off to get ready, but at the last minute, he was forced to fill in for a sick doctor. He tried looking for another doctor to take his place and he couldn’t find anyone. He later got lucky when Irving stepped up.
Irving was returning the favor. He had Devon take his shift so that he could propose to his girlfriend Nurse Jessica and now he was on an engagement high. He was getting married and returning the love. He even decided to take an extra shift so that Cinderella could go to the gala. Devon received great news. He just had to finish his regular shift and then soon he’ll be with Nadine. He even squeezed in a new patient. He was treating Gemma Lin. She was a fashionista superstar and her scans were showing a mass. She needed to have it biopsied. She would have to be transferred to the surgical department to get that done and so Okafor was happy.
Okafor was a huge fan. She couldn’t wait to meet Gemma and so having her as a patient gave them the perfect opportunity to talk. All Devon asked was that the results from the biopsy would come in before he left. He really didn’t want to be late. Devon changed into his suit just so that he wouldn’t be rushing and he saw his patient in his new suit. She took one look at it and said he couldn’t go out like that. Devon’s suit was too big for him. Gemma told him she would find him something better and she was looking for it when her condition took a turn for the worse. She needed to be rushed into surgery and she didn’t want to go alone.
Gemma was afraid of dying alone. She asked Devon to stay with her and there went his plans. He chose to put his patient ahead of himself. So, he missed the beginning of the gala. He did stay around though to find out what was bothering his patient and it turns out to be hair. She’s been eating her hair so much that she had a huge hairball in her intestines and it was wrapped around vital organs. Devon was dealing with that while his mentor was having a difficult day. Conrad had to fire the Obstetrics Department. Red Rock considered them a liability because they do the most work and charge the least. And so a whole department was going away.
It seems Red Rock overextended themselves on the Neurosurgery unit. They were now looking for ways to recuperate their loss and they didn’t care what it did to the doctors. There were residents who would have start over now. They were doctors that would lose their careers and they were patients that will now have to be turned away. The only answer to this was finding more money in the budget and neither Conrad or Bell could do so. There wasn’t any money left. Red Rock didn’t care about its patients or its staff and so Conrad went ahead with firing everyone. He even fired longtime friends.
Conrad was also helping Nic. Nic has this patient that came after passing out at school and the poor teenager had to deal with a mother that was entirely unsympathetic. The mother kept giving her a tea that was supposed to be helping with her nerves. Nic suspected the mother was poisoning the daughter and she and Conrad found evidence of this. They even brought it up to the father, but he said he was the one that found the tea from his acupuncturist. He gave the doctors a sample of it and they found out the tea had been recalled because it was contaminated. It was contaminated by poison. Its what was making the daughter sick and so they treated her. And the parents went back to fighting before long.
Conrad and Nic were able to get a change of clothes. They then headed to party like everyone else and that included Devon. Devon missed out on the beginning. He wasn’t announced coming into the party with Nadine and so he thought she’d be upset with him and she wasn’t. She was just so glad to see him. Nadine hadn’t been pressuring him to come because she wanted him to meet her dad. She had been on him because she wanted to spend her birthday with him and so she was just glad to finally be able to do that. And Devon didn’t leave his patient until she was awake and they spoke to her about her anxiety.
Eating her own hair was a symptom of her anxiety. Gemma needed a referral for a good psychiatrist and she’ll be okay. As for the staff, the doctors all got to go to the party. Okafor and AJ had a moment while out on the dance floor. Bell got to see Kim humiliated. Conrad got to put the day behind him by being with his girlfriend And Devon met the King.
He met the King. He was also there for Nadine when she told her father that she been signed by a record label and unfortunately her father told her to stop living in a dream. He said no princess is going to become a musician. Devon tried to defend his girlfriend and her father shut him down. He said his conversations with his daughter were private and so Devon was leaving them to it when he got called by AJ. AJ was with the king’s goddaughter when the woman went into labor. Her baby has a special condition and so she was rushed to the hospital. And Kim came to regret firing the OB department.
It’s not every day that they get to turn away a billionaire family because they don’t have the doctors. AJ and Okafor were able to do what they could and so Kim had the chance to reconsider his hasty actions.
Conrad hadn’t been at the hospital when this was happening because he left early with Nic and they apparently got engaged on a romantic walk through the park.
