The Voice Recap 04/20/20: Season 18 Episode 10 “The Knockouts Part 2”

Tonight on NBC’s Emmy Award-winning musical competition The Voice airs with an all-new Monday, April 20, 2020, season 18 episode 9 “The Knockouts Part 2,” and we have your The Voice recap right below. On tonight’s The Voice season 18 episode 10 “The “Knockouts Rounds” conclude. Each artist is paired against a teammate to perform individually, while their direct competitor watches and waits.

Multi-platinum and Grammy Award-winning music icon, James Taylor, will serve as the Mega Mentor and be on hand to work with all of the coaches and their artists as they prepare for this challenge. The coaches alone will choose the winner from each Knockout to advance. Each coach will have one steal in the “Knockouts.”

The artists will be paired against a teammate once more, but this time they will each select their own song to perform individually, while their direct competitor watches and waits. A Mega Mentor will be on hand to work with all of the coaches and their artists as they prepare for this challenge.

James Taylor is here tonight as a mentor. James and John talk. They plan to watch a singer by the name of Thunderstorm and Mandy perform. Mandy takes the stage first to sing Stand By Me. John loves Mandy’s range and control. James likes her tempo and melody. It is very fluid. Thunderstorm chooses to sing the song Preach. They both love his energy and voice. Now the two will take the stage to perform for all of the judges and audience.

Mandy goes first. The audience loves her rendition. Thunderstorm takes the stage next. Nick votes for Thunderstorm. Kelly thinks Mandy dominates just slightly. Blake liked them both. It is now up to John. He chooses Mandy. She is moving on.

Nick and James meet with Arei and John. Arei sings first with an Alicia Keys song. They love it and give her a few pointers. John goes next. He sings an Ed Sheeran song. Again, they love his talent too.

Arei takes the stage first with her Alicia Keys song. Kelly is really enjoying the song. sings next. The judges are impressed with his range. Kelly thinks they are both great. She thinks Are did great. Blake would pick John. John Legend loved them both. Nick hates that he has to do it but he picks Arei.

Kelly and James meet with Micah and Tayler. Micah sings a Halsey song. They love it but want to make it a little moodier and dark. James Taylor plays a little riff on his guitar, nailing the melody and mood immediately.

Tayler is up next, she sings Time After Time. They slow it down a bit and it sounds perfect. Kelly just wants to give her more time to sing since she is a different artist than Cindi Lauper.

The two take to the stage to perform. The audience equally loves them. Blake and John like them both but Tayler seemed to be a bit stronger. Nick also thinks Tayler is great although they all agree Micah has talent. Kelly thought their song choices were challenging and beautiful. Kelly is torn and needs a minute. She goes with her gut feeling and picks Micah.

Micah is relieved Kelly sees his potential. Nick wishes he could steal Tayler. But he doesn’t have any left.

Nick and James Taylor meet with Nick’s singers Allegra and Jacob, who sings first. James tells Jacob his vocals are great. He just needs to move a little on stage. Allegra sings next. They clap. They love it. They give her some pointers on the high notes.

Allegra hits the stage first singing Chandelier. They love her. Nick stands after to applaud her. Jacob takes the stage next and sings Circles from Post Malone. Kelly loves his Post rendition.

Kelly loved them both! Blake agrees. But thinks Allegra could be the season winner. John thought they were both great and would have a hard time picking. Nick is stumped but forced to make a choice, he picks Allegra.

Singers Toneisha and Cedrice come into see Blake and James Taylor. They cannot believe James is here. After they all talk, Cedrice sings a Rihanna song. They think she made a good choice.

Taneisha has been singing for a long time thanks to her dad who has passed on. She chooses to sing Diamonds from Rihanna. James loves her voice. Blake noticed her nerves. James gives her a trick, telling her he still gets nervous before he performs.

Cedrice takes the stage first to sing Love On The Brain for the audience and all of the judges.

Toneisha is up next. She also sings her Rihanna song, Diamonds. After she is done, all of the coaches stand to clap.

John is thrilled by them both. Nick is impressed by Toneisha, she makes him jealous. They all laugh. He thinks she could win. Kelly thinks they are both very powerful. Blake loves them both. He believes the winner of this knockout is Toneisha. It was a hard decision for him. Seconds later, Kelly steals Cedrice. She cries. She will be on the live show.

For the first time, the show is doing a 4-way knockout. America will vote. They are all nervous. Nelson from Team John will be performing. James Taylor loves his airy voice.

Todd from Team Blake shows off his idea for the knockout with Blake and James. They think he is going in the right direction.

Kelly and Samantha prep for her performance. She will be singing You Are Always On My Mind. Michael meets with his coach Nick and James Taylor last. They think he is ready to compete with his vocals and song choice.

Todd takes the stage first to perform. Nelson takes the stage second. Michael is tried in the 4-way battle. Nick looks proud. Samantha takes the stage last. Kelly is happy, standing to applaud.

Blake loves Todd’s range. John thinks Nelson shows his love for music and he has a gift. Nick thinks Michael has never sounded better. Kelly thinks Samantha has a very unique tone. She is captivating. America will now vote with only one moving forward.
