The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) are about to have an intriguing conversation. On the episode airing on Monday, September 7, Lily will catch Billy and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) having an argument, and talk will once again turn to Billy and Amanda’s non-relationship.
From there, Billy and Lily will discuss relationships in general, and Lily will share that her burgeoning relationship with a guy upstate never went anywhere. Billy will start joking around with Lily, and he’ll get on a dating app and start answering some of the questions on the app.
Billy will then reveal that he isn’t interested in any relationships from here on out, since he’s always the one to screw them up.
Well, on soaps, when someone says that they’ve sworn off relationships for good, that’s usually the time when someone new comes along and unexpectedly whisks them off their feet.
Could TPTB be priming viewers for a new Billy romance? It would make sense, especially since it doesn’t seem like the show is at all headed in the direction of Billy and Amanda ultimately being together.
Rather, it seems that Amanda could be headed in Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) direction in the long-term, and of course she’s currently dating Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic).
That situation has all sorts of potential for conflict and drama, since Devon is currently happy with Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), and since Elena and Nate seem to be developing a strong bond of their own. And if the show goes in that direction, then that takes Amanda out of the picture for Billy.
So, what will a future Billy romance look like, and who will it involve? Well, Billy and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) seem totally kaput for now, and there doesn’t appear to be any other woman on canvas who’s single, aside from Lily, and it doesn’t at all look like the show will be going in that direction.
That leaves us with perhaps someone new to the Genoa City scene.
As you might know, Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra, B&B) will soon be joining the Young and the Restless in an unspecified role. Now she could be a potential love interest for Billy, either as Sally Spectra or as a brand-new character.
And actually, the idea of Billy and Sally (assuming that Courtney Hope will reprise her role of Sally) getting together could be interesting.
After all, both Billy and Sally have troubled histories. Billy has his past gambling addiction problems and recent break from reality, and Sally has a history of stealing designs and faking a terminal illness in order to hold onto Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks).
Each character seems to need a fresh start and perhaps someone who understands them like no one else ever has. And that’s exactly what Billy has been craving all this time – for someone to “get” him in a way that Victoria and the Abbott family can’t.
Of course, if Courtney Hope doesn’t reprise the role of Sally and comes on the Y&R scene as a brand-new character, then that could work, too.
Courtney could play the role of perhaps a Chancellor Communications investor or even a seasoned writer that Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) brings to Billy as a potential part of the team. That could certainly work, and it could pave the way for a romance between Billy and the new character.
We’ll see what happens here, but fans are awaiting news on exactly what role Courtney Hope will be playing, and we bet there’s a good chance she could emerge as a new love interest for Billy.
