The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Cassie Newman’s (Camryn Grimes) spirit has visited Genoa City, Wisconsin, on various occasions since this beloved character died in 2005. Now, as Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) battle with cancer continues, this vision can also comfort her twin sister, Mariah Copeland (Grimes’ current character).
Mariah had a very tough life until she came to town. While strong, she has her limits and needs support as well. Cassie has provided comfort and perspective to Sharon in the past and could do the same for Mariah this summer.
The irony in the proposed scenario is something hardcore fans would instantly recognize, as Mariah accepted Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) diabolical offer to gaslight Sharon in 2014.
Mariah played the ghost of Cassie as part of an attempt by Victor to ferret information out of Case’s character. After that pretense was exposed, Mariah and Sharon eventually learned that Cassie had a previously unknown identical twin.

Viewers recall that Cassie’s spirit last appeared to Sharon earlier this year. The breast cancer diagnosis was fresh, which created a great sense of uncertainty in Sharon’s mind.
It had been awhile since Grimes played the dual role on the show. In this instance, Cassie successfully persuaded her mother to realize that she needed help from her family. Sharon was then able to open up and proceeded with the fight.

Mariah had a defensive personality when she first arrived in GC. The life she led, after being stolen from Sharon at birth and eventually coming to live in Ian Ward’s (Ray Wise) cult was dysfunctional, to put it mildly.
Sharon’s willingness to forgive what Mariah did was the key element that allowed Mariah to open up. She developed and has maintained a solid bond with her mother and siblings, including her younger sister, Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind).
While she’s had her ups and downs in recent years, Mariah has reestablished her connection to Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and was in the process of seeking a new part of her career when the last fresh episodes were seen in late April.

Viewers will soon be able to see what happens in Sharon’s storyline and all the others that were paused. The resumption of production earlier this month is expected to allow new episodes to be available for broadcast within the next few weeks.
Unless information is being withheld, Case isn’t leaving the cast. That means Sharon will beat cancer at some point. But in the meantime she and her loved ones, including Mariah, will need all the support that’s available, both here on earth and from above.
