The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) will prepare for their bundle of joy. Y&R fans know things have been going smoothly for Chloe since she found out she was pregnant. Chloe suffered from Braxton Hicks contractions during the ice storm, but they quickly passed. There’s been no major baby drama so far.
Of course, the fact that this pregnancy’s been so easy is somewhat troubling – at least on a soap! The Young and the Restless characters tend to enjoy a period of bliss before misery. It’s common for a couple to get a calm before the storm – and that might be what Chloe and Kevin are getting right now.
Plus, it’s pretty much unheard of for a pregnant soap character to have a simple delivery. There are almost always complications – often on some terrible night when Mom and Dad can’t make it to the hospital! There’s a good chance Chloe will go into labor somewhere surprising, so the delivery could bring some scary moments.
Will Chloe’s baby survive the inevitable chaos ahead? No one can rule out a heartbreaking loss, which would give Hendrickson and Rikaart some gripping material to play.
Since Chloe already lost her daughter, Delia Abbott (Sophie Pollono), losing her baby boy would truly break her. It’s the kind of thing that could drive Chloe off the deep end again or at least tear apart her relationship with Kevin.
If The Young and the Restless is looking to explore other romantic options – particularly with the very versatile Chloe – this might be a path to making that happen. If Chloe and Kevin’s romance couldn’t endure the devastation, it’d free them both up to move on with other people.
However, it’s been a while since a Y&R character had a baby, so they may not be keen on killing this little one off. Chloe and Kevin are treated mostly as fun characters without much purpose anyway. The Young and the Restless writers haven’t given Kevin and Chloe much to do since they came back, so they may not start now.
People may not be eager to watch doom and gloom once Y&R returns with new episodes, so that’s something to keep in mind. Perhaps the best option would be a difficult birth that brings a happy ending. Whatever baby terror Chloe will likely turn out all right in the end.
