The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Christel Khalil Thrilled By Daytime Emmy Nomination For Lily Winters Role

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) shared an image of her family when reacting to the announcement that she and some of her other Y&R colleagues were 2020 Daytime Emmy award nominees.

Khalil posted a photo of herself, her son, Michael, and significant other, Sam Restagno.

Aside of the photo Khalil said, “Just found out the great news! So happy to be nominated for a Daytime Emmy award alongside some amazing, talented people.”

Current and former castmates Lauralee Bell (Christine Williams), Tracey Bregman (Lauren Fenmore Baldwin), Brytni Sarpy (Elena Dawson), Loren Lott (Ana Hamilton), and Tamara Clatterbuck (Alice Johnson) posted congratulatory responses under Khalil’s comments.

Khalil, who earned a Daytime Emmy in 2012 in the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series category, is joined by a number of Y&R colleagues who are also vying to earn a 2020 Daytime Emmy Award. Khalil is the only Y&R actor to be nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category.

The other Y&R nominees are Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott), in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category, Mark Grossman (Adam Newman) and Bryton James (Devon Hamilton), in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category. Sasha Calle (Lola Rosales), in the Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series category, along with Elissa Kapneck (Sasha, no last name for this character), Eva LaRue (Celeste Rosales), and Jeffrey Vincent Parise (Simon Black) in the Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series category.

The 2020 Daytime Emmy Awards return to broadcast television, for the first time since 2011, at 8 pm ET on June 26.

Khalil, who was born in 1987, began her acting career in 1993. The actor became the SORAS’d (soap opera rapid aging syndrome) edition of Drucilla Winters (Victoria Rowell) and Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) only child when she debuted on Y&R in 2002. A later arc revealed that Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore), Neil’s brother, was actually Lily’s biological father.

Lily’s recent divorce from Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) restored her maiden name, reinforcing that Khalil’s character is the standard bearer for the Winters’ family legacy.

Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) wanted to channel her son’s energies in a positive direction, but knew that Billy has a pattern of going off the rails when left to his own devices. So, she wisely offered Lily the opportunity to build Chancellor Industries new media division with Billy, where they share equal leadership status.

Lily’s history with Billy and current single status imply intriguing personal potential. Khalil’s character’s choice to return home and live without Cane, or the twins, who are away at colleague, sets Lily on a new course.
