The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Donny Boaz Returns, Thanks Chance Recast Justin Gaston – Teases Magical New Scene with Abby

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Donny Boaz’s (Chance Chancellor) return airdate is coming up, so the actor wanted to offer his gratitude to his replacement. Y&R fans will see Boaz back in the role of Chance starting December 18, but he posted a sweet message to thank Justin Gaston for filling in.

As you’ve probably heard by now, Boaz tested positive for COVID-19 and had to be replaced in a hurry. The Young and the Restless gave Melissa Ordway’s (Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor) real-life husband a call – and thankfully, Gaston was on board with taking on the part of Chance temporarily.

Of course, that meant Boaz missed Chance and Abby’s recent wedding celebration along with many of their first newlywed moments. Boaz hated that he couldn’t be there to film the nuptials, but there was a silver lining involving Gaston and Ordway’s status as a real-life couple.

Let’s look at what Boaz had to say in a heartfelt Instagram post. “I want to send out a special thank you to these two #lovebirds,” Boaz insisted and added a pic of Ordway with Gaston.

Boaz praised Gaston for putting in a lot of work to catch up. He also had lovely things to say about Ordway, who called Boaz almost every day to check on him while he was out.

“Sad I couldn’t be there for such a momentous occasion for Chance and Abby’s wedding, but simultaneously in awe of what an amazing and unique experience it was to get to marry your own spouse on daytime TV,” Gaston said. “That’s pretty cool. I’m thankful for your two. #respect #thankful #hotcouple #yr”

There was indeed something special about having Abby marry Chance knowing Ordway was “marrying” her own husband again! Although some Chance and Abby fans were disappointed that Boaz couldn’t play the groom, it was just something that couldn’t be helped – and Gaston did a fantastic job as a temp recast.

It all worked out in the end, but Boaz’s fans will certainly be glad to see him back in action.

In another Instagram post, Boaz confirmed December 18 as his first airdate back on screen. He also teased some great material that Abby and Chance shippers can look forward to.

“Spoiler Alert: I think @mel_ordway and I had one of the best, most magical scenes we’ve ever shot today,” Boaz said. “She is sooo good and sooo talented. I feel lucky to get front row seats to watch her work.”

Boaz gushed about how much he loves his job and assured fans that he’s happy to be back at work. We’ll offer updates as other Y&R news comes in. The Young and the Restless spoilers say some big twists are ahead for Abby and Chance, so stay tuned.
