The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Douglas Austin’s (Michael Evans) suggestion that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) visit The Bayou in the early 1980’s served to establish Y&R’s greatest couple. Niktor happened because Victor was impressed with Nikki Reed (Melody Thomas Scott) and soon confirmed that she loved him for who he was, rather than for his money.
While he’s not often demonstrated it, Victor truly loves Nikki. But love often hasn’t been enough to prevent him from betraying her trust, withholding key information that was critical to their lives, or from creating problems with their children and many other people.
Married to Newman Enterprises for many years, Victor recently relinquished day-to-day control of his business and has been spending quality time with Nikki. But the length and depth of all that’s happened through the decades creates an intriguing question for Y&R fans to consider. Has Nikki’s life with Victor been worth it?

There’s no doubt that Victor genuinely fell in love with Nikki. He was sincerely impressed when she believed he was Douglas’ butler and not the millionaire who owned the Ranch.
Devoted Y&R fans and newer viewers, as they are learning through classic episodes, feel the warmth of Niktor’s early days. They were genuine, even though what came to pass has harshly tarnished this couple’s luster.

Vickie Newman (as now played by Amelia Heinle) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) should have become the full focus on Victor and Nikki’s lives after they had their children. That didn’t happen and plenty of upset ensued.
The many separations and divorces created plenty of daytime drama. Within Nikki’s world, that turmoil didn’t help her eventual dependence on alcohol. Thankfully, that serious issue has been effectively and compassionately managed in recent years.
Having arrived at the eighth Niktor marriage in the mid part of the last decade, it’s fair to wonder if any of those nuptials should have ever happened? It would be harsh to discount any of them because of the children. Vickie and Nick care about their parents, despite some issues, and have their own families, which include Niktor’s grandchildren.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Will They Stick Together?
Even the strongest Niktor fans can’t say that Nikki and Victor will remain married this time, as they’ve often parted and then revived their relationship. But that pattern confirms that these two people haven’t been able to discover the secret to consistency. Not that many other couples in Y&R’s history have either, but Niktor ranks with the standout pairings.
Nikki loves Victor like no other man. She has forgiven him for moral crimes that many others didn’t, or wouldn’t have. But they do seem to have reached a point of relationship stability in recent years.
So, in digesting everything and in purposely not looking at what her husband’s life would have been without her, has Nikki’s life with Victor been worth it?
