The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that there’s been an interesting development in Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) storyline – and it involves what he believes is a message from Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams).
After Jack watched that home movie Dina seemingly had in mind, Jack thought young John Abbott’s (Jonathan Stoddard) words about love were what Dina wanted him to hear.
Ever since, Jack has been hopeful about finding his perfect match. That’s a great idea since Jack’s been single for far too long, but Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) gets brutally honest with Jack on the September 15 episode of Y&R. Phyllis just doesn’t think that message sounds like what Dina would tell him at all.
Dina wasn’t the sweet, sentimental type who’d be all about love. Even so, we know that Jack’s storyline will lead him on a romantic adventure. Maybe Dina wanted Jack to hear John’s message of love and another one of her own.
Then again, maybe Jack’s story is more about closure and moving on. The Young and the Restless spoilers say there’ll eventually be some trinket that Jack, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) track down for Dina.
In doing so, the Abbotts may give Dina a parting gift and give themselves the gift of letting go. That could offer Jack the freedom to pursue love again.
Regardless, Y&R buzz still hints that romance may be on the horizon for Jack. Could Jack’s conversation with Phyllis offer some clues about what’s ahead? Phyllis was reluctant to get honest with Jack at first, but he assured Phyllis that he trusted her judgment. That led Phyllis to note that they’d come a long way – and indeed they have.
Phyllis and Jack have reached a nice place of friendship, but could it ultimately become more? After all, Jack’s single and Phyllis’ reunion with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) seems destined to fail. In that September 15 episode, Jack respects Phyllis for being someone who’ll tell him the truth and challenge him.
However, Phyllis clearly cares about Jack’s feelings. That’s why Phyllis is so hesitant to hurt Jack with her comments about Dina. Phyllis worries that Jack might hate her, but Jack quickly insists he’s tried to hate Phyllis and isn’t very good at it.
The whole conversation is remarkably authentic and tender, so The Young and the Restless could be setting the stage for Jack and Phyllis to get back together.
Phyllis is a special kind of woman that Jack can’t replace with just anyone. Wouldn’t it be something if Jack didn’t really have to look for love? What if it’s been staring Jack in the face the whole time?
Just like with Dina’s misunderstood message, Jack may come to realize he simply needed a new perspective. This could be a romantic journey that leads Jack back to Phyllis sooner or later.
Phyllis is going to need a new love interest if Nick dumps her – and kind, understanding Jack may be next in line. It’d be a waste not to pursue Jack and Phyllis’ chemistry with Michelle Stafford back in the role.
