The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that one CBS soap star recently had a confession to make. Y&R fans now know Mishael Morgan as Amanda Sinclair in Genoa City, but she previously played the feisty Hilary Curtis Hamilton.
Thanks to Hilary’s complicated relationship with Devon Hamilon (Bryton James) and bold personality in general, she made an enemy out of Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) for quite some time.
It turns out some of that early feud was at least a little real! In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Morgan was asked which costar she had the biggest misconception of. Morgan didn’t hesitate to say Christel Khalil and explained why they didn’t get along at first.
“I thought she hated me … turns out she did,” Morgan said with a laugh. “She completely mistook my sarcastic humor and thought I was being rude.” Morgan apparently just rolled with it – presumably thinking there wasn’t much she could do about it if Khalil didn’t like her.
In fact, it took a year for Morgan to realize they just weren’t on the same page. Fortunately, Morgan and Khalil worked it all out in the end. They actually became great pals once they truly got to know each other. “I didn’t find out until a year later and now we’re best friends,” Morgan said.
That’s good news since Khalil and Morgan are poised to work together more often. Amanda has joined the Chancellor Communications team, so she’ll be helping Lily and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) as they try to lead the company into the future.
Could there be the potential for clashing? That probably depends on what romantic direction The Young and the Restless writers want to take Billy in.
Billy and Lily seem like they might be the couple to root for, but what about his lingering feelings for Amanda? There’s still something about Amanda that Billy seems drawn to. If Y&R turns this into a love triangle at some point, maybe Lily and Amanda could become rivals.
Thankfully, that battle would strictly be on screen! Morgan and Khalil have moved past any old issues and will undoubtedly keep their friendship going strong.
