The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that there’s some return news to pass along – and it could offer an intriguing hint about where the story’s headed. On November 11 and November 12, Dane West will reprise his role as “Young Adam Newman.”
Y&R fans can expect more flashbacks as the show dives deeper into Adam’s past and what makes him tick. The last time we saw young Adam, he was cowering under a table while AJ Montalvo threatened Hope Wilson.
Adam eventually jumped out from under that table and launched the attack that ended AJ’s life.
There were also some flashbacks of young Adam listening as Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) worried about his son and schemed to cover up the incident. As an adult, Adam finally unblocked those memories and was horrified by what he’d done.
It was initially hard for Adam to realize he actually wanted AJ dead; it was about more than just protecting his mother.
Of course, Adam eventually changed his tune and didn’t seem to care anymore. Now that Adam’s lost Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) though, he’s sinking to a dark place again.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Adam’s plotting something dreadful, so the new flashbacks may offer insight into exactly why.
Y&R seemingly wants to accomplish three goals with these flashback scenes. For starters, they show us what happened. Just answering questions about Adam’s childhood is reason enough to include them.
However, the flashbacks also offer a glimpse of what makes Adam tick. It’s about showing us how Adam became the man he is today.
Most importantly, these flashbacks offer a more sympathetic angle. Seeing what little Adam went through kind of tugs at the heartstrings and might make you feel for the guy in the present.
Between all the AJ stuff and the twisted relationship Adam has with Victor, it’s no wonder Adam is a mess!
Victor may be trying to help Adam now, but that wasn’t always the case. We can’t let Victor off the hook for the times he’s targeted Adam in the past any more than we can let Adam off the hook in the present.
Both Victor and Adam have contributed to their dysfunctional father-son bond.
Nevertheless, Victor will keep hoping he can put Adam on the right track and somehow repair his family.
