The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Thursday, January 2, tease that Abby Newman’s (Melissa Ordway) New Year’s Eve party will bring some surprises. Of course, there’s one development that won’t be a surprise – at least not to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Nick will realize he’s been in denial about where Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) heart really lies. He’s been so focused on Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) that he never stopped to truly consider Chelsea’s perspective.
Chelsea pushed Adam away when she first realized he was alive, but she was completely overwhelmed at the time. Things only got worse after Calvin Boudreau (John Burke) died and Adam tried to incriminate Chelsea for what wasn’t a crime. Chelsea had even more reasons to be wary thanks to Adam’s continued bad behavior. There was a lot to wrap her head around, and Chelsea naturally craved the safety Adam’s been talking about.
Nick was able to provide that sense of safety, and maybe that was a good thing for a while. However, Chelsea and Adam always seem to come back together. It feels like destiny that they’ve even got this chance in front of them – another chance that’s just waiting for them to reach out and grab it! That’s certainly what Adam’s hoping Chelsea will do and what Nick’s starting to accept will happen.
On Thursday, Nick will talk to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) about losing Chelsea. He’ll feel like he’s been refusing to see the red flags, but his eyes will finally be wide open. After Jack offers some guidance, Nick will pull Chelsea aside at the bash. He’ll probably acknowledge that he’s seen the way Chelsea looks at Adam. There’s still something between them – and it isn’t helping matters to pretend that isn’t true.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Nick will want Chelsea to be honest with both herself and with him. He’ll think if Chelsea does that, she’ll see that she should be with Adam. Chelsea may try to fight Nick on this at first, but she’ll eventually head home with Adam. They’ll hold hands and watch fireworks, which will set up a huge decision about their future next week.
In the meantime, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will corner “Chance” Chancellor (Donny Boaz) at the party. She’ll wonder if Abby knows what happened in Vegas, which should leave Chance on edge. It’s clear that Chance doesn’t want that shocker getting out – especially since it’s something that could put his budding romance in jeopardy.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will also be looking glamorous for the festivities. Jack will propose a toast to the happy couple, so they’ll share a kiss as everyone raises a glass. Y&R fans can expect some interesting projects for Nikki and Victor in the new year, so stay tuned to see what 2020 holds.
As for Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), he’ll keep opening up to Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) at that dive bar. It’s a comfortable hangout and they’ve found relief in each other. Billy will confess he feels like he can be himself with Amanda, so she’ll admit she feels the same way about Billy. The Young and the Restless spoilers say they’ll continue down this dangerous path – which may be one of desire and temptation.
