The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Tuesday, August 18 – Theo’s Secret Plan – Lola Miami Disaster – Adam Therapy Setback

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Tuesday, August 18, teases that some surprises are in store for several Genoa City residents. At Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) place, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) thinks Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) has a lot of nerve showing up over there again. When Rey pushes for what this is all about, Sharon admits Adam has a traumatic past experience he wants to remember.

Rey suggests that makes him a little crazy and hopes Sharon can understand that. “I mean, the guy’s a blackhole of selfishness,” Rey insists. “Thinking his own problems should take precedence over your health, Sharon.” Rey quickly realizes Sharon told Adam that she’d do it.

Sharon worries Adam’s too guarded to confide in a stranger. Rey brings up Sharon’s cancer treatment and expresses his concern. Sharon defends Adam, who’s assured her that their sessions will cease if this becomes too draining. Rey feels like Adam’s going to use Sharon’s generosity against her and put his needs above her own.

Sharon reassures Rey that nothing romantic’s going on, but this isn’t about jealousy for Rey. He believes Sharon and just wants what’s best for her. Rey listens to Sharon and is willing to respect her choice, but he also wants Sharon to think about the sacrifice she’ll be making.

Since Rey isn’t going to fight Sharon on this, he points out that it could be painful if she helps unearth Adam’s memories. Rey assures Sharon that if she needs to talk to him, he’ll be there for her.

At the penthouse, Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) stunned over Adam going to Sharon for help. She thinks there are professionals out there with way more experience. Chelsea doesn’t think this is as simple as Adam’s letting on. Seeking help isn’t the only reason Adam went to Sharon in Chelsea’s opinion.

Adam talks about having to dig deep into his past and his memories. He can’t imagine opening up to a stranger. Chelsea gets that Sharon and Adam have a connection that could help him in this case. However, Chelsea’s upset that Adam’s already spoken to Sharon.

“Why go behind my back?” Chelsea asks. She determines that Adam’s only coming to her now because Sharon said yes. Chelsea rants about how Sharon just loves to be needed. This is what Sharon and Adam always do! It’s what they’ve always done! Chelsea argues that’s why it’d be a mistake. She can’t imagine how Rey’s reacting to all this.

Chelsea’s upset to learn that if Sharon hadn’t insisted on them coming clean about working together, Adam would’ve kept Chelsea in the dark. Adam doesn’t want to keep secrets, but he also doesn’t want to hurt Chelsea. “I believe Sharon is my best shot at getting to the truth – and I’m just hoping that you can support me,” Adam says.

Chelsea argues that Adam didn’t deliberately murder someone. She insists she knows Adam better than anyone, even Sharon. Chelsea doesn’t think it’s necessary to retrieve these memories of killing AJ Montalvo to be a better father and husband. Although Adam expects to find peace by remembering, Chelsea fears it’ll end up doing just the opposite.

In Tuesday’s Y&R episode, Adam reflects on wishing his mom was still around to answer his questions. Chelsea thinks Hope Wilson (last played by Beth Toussaint) would just want Adam to be happy. She suggests going somewhere else to live, but Adam doesn’t think running away is the answer.

Chelsea assumes Adam’s mind is made up, but he won’t work with Sharon without Chelsea’s approval. Chelsea’s relieved that Adam’s willing to listen since she feels she’s seeing things more clearly. Nothing good can come of this. “It’s not what you need,” Chelsea says with a sad smile. Adam looks frustrated over Chelsea’s lack of support.

At Society, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) welcomes Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) back from Miami while Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) talks to someone over the phone. Theo suggests the whole point of doing his plan this way is so they don’t know what’s coming until it hits them. Although this is last-minute, but Theo promises to take care of this person if they pull this off.

On Tuesday’s Young and the Restless episode, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) seems suspicious of what Theo’s up to this time. Theo assures Mariah that he remembers her warning about not making trouble for Lola. Since Lola just got back, Mariah hints that Theo should let Lola get settled in again before she has to deal with him.

Back with Lola, she’s rather aloof as Kyle asks about her family and the new restaurant in Miami. Lola alludes to issues and the experience being “not fun.” Soon after, Theo walks over to deliver a warm welcome home. Kyle looks a tad uneasy, but Lola seems pleased to see Theo’s friendly face.

Mariah joins Kyle, who admits he has mixed feelings about Theo and Lola’s bond. The topic of Theo’s firing comes up, so Kyle argues that he wasn’t trying to embarrass he guy. Kyle’s surprised to learn Theo had an “oddly real” conversation with Mariah, which brought Theo’s confession about the firing. Mariah saw another side of Theo – and Kyle admits he saw that side once upon a time, too.

Kyle actually thinks things could get better now that they’ve put some distance between each other. Since Theo makes Lola happy, Kyle suggests that’s all he wants for her. Over with Theo, he tells Lola about taking a 15-year-old pitch that turned out to be Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman). Lola laughs, but she eventually turns serious. She wishes she could’ve been there when Theo needed her.

Theo points out that he talked to Mariah about the details of his humiliation and realizes she’s going through stuff with Sharon. The conversation shifts to Theo hearing Lola’s voice in his head as he tried to spin his career setback into something good. “I missed my little goofball,” Theo admits.

Lola doesn’t have time to get into the whole story behind her Miami trip, but it was problematic. She took stock of the situation and knows it’s time to cut her losses. It was never going to be dreamed what she dreamed it could be. “I want to focus on my life here…dream new dreams,” Lola says.

Back with Mariah, she talks to Kyle about Sharon’s illness. Kyle wonders how Mariah’s holding up, so she praises Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) for being so amazing. Tessa belongs in the hall of fame of girlfriends. Mariah eventually pivots to Summer Newman (Hunter King) and “Skyle’s” relationship, so Kyle admits it’s going great.

Mariah confesses that Summer’s been pretty incredible with Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind), so she’s happy to have her around…sometimes. Next, Theo texts Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) about wanting to meet and run something by him. Kyle approaches with a few things he’d like to say to Theo.

Kyle notes that they were good friends once and doesn’t know how it all went so wrong. Although Kyle can’t change the past, he hopes they can go forward. Kyle doesn’t think Theo was ever really happy at Jabot anyway, so Theo admits Kyle’s probably right.

Kyle insists they’re still family and like his dad always says… “Family is forever,” Theo acknowledges. “All right then,” Kyle replies. Lola comes over after Kyle leaves and wonders what that was about. Theo notes that was seemingly Kyle’s way of apologizing.

Next, Theo gets a text saying Billy’s willing to meet, so Lola wishes Theo luck and a happy belated birthday. Kyle reconvenes with Mariah and assures her that he’s glad to see Lola moving on from the breakup.

In Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) suite at the Grand Phoenix, she arrives to find Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) getting the bath water to the temperature she likes. Phyllis is impressed by the scent blends, bath salts and honeysuckle candle.

After a hot bath, Phyllis is relaxed – which is exactly what Nick has in mind for what comes next. Nick has a video game involving dinosaur bones. “It seems to really speak to what you’re interested in right now,” Nick teases. Phyllis enjoys quite a victory celebration after she beats Nick at the game.

Later, Phyllis gushes over the meal Nick arranged and admits this is research for “The Grand Phoenix Escape Club,” which is just for women. Nick argues that men like to unplug as well, but Phyllis thinks they already have golf and man caves. After Phyllis explains, Nick really likes the idea and is happy to help.

We’ll give you updates as other Y&R news becomes available. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Phyllis has some hurdles ahead of her, so stay tuned to see how she deals with them! CDL’s where you want to be for sizzling Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news.
