The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Wednesday, September 2 – Victoria Hits On Theo – Chance’s Dangerous New Job

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Wednesday, September 2, teases that some shockers are on the way. At Newman Enterprises, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) plays hardball on the phone before she finds Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) in her office. Nikki hopes her daughter’s in a good mood because Victoria’s about to be put to the test.

During a video chat, Dan Szymborski (Robert Gossett) admits that Victoria’s got everyone buzzing with her latest moves. Dan doesn’t think it’s too late to undo all the damage Victoria’s done.

Victoria suggests there’s a “world of difference” between the truth and Dan’s opinion. Dan has believed in Victoria since day one, but even the greatest CEOs make mistakes.

Nikki disagrees and thinks Victoria’s made the right decisions. Victoria contends that the deals are final, so this conversation is moot. Dan feels like Victoria has left the company vulnerable.

He’s heard rumblings of discontent and needs to keep her “worker bees” happy. Without them, Victoria has nothing. Victoria thinks that sounds an awful lot like a theat.

Dan denies it, but Victoria wonders if Victor came around on her decisions so he could look like the good guy and send Dan in as his attack dog. When Dan argues that Victoria is tarnishing her father’s legacy, she announces that this conversation is over and cuts off the call.

Nikki praises Victoria for how she handled things, but Victoria doesn’t want Nikki to blab to Victor yet. Victoria feels like Dan’s doing Victor’s dirty work, but Nikki doesn’t believe that.

She also tries to get Victoria to book an escape as part of The Grand Phoenix escape club. Nikki sells it as “incredible” and thinks it could be exactly what Victoria needs.

At Chancellor Communications, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) alerts Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) to a general memo she’s emailed him. It contains guidelines for the stories and content they put out. Billy feels like these rules and regulations were designed with him in mind.

Amanda feels it’s her job to protect Chance Comm. “From litigation or from me?” Billy asks. “Why can’t it be both?” Amanda wonders after a beat. She doesn’t think Billy has to take this so personally.

Billy makes smart remarks, but he ultimately insists he likes rules. When Billy does cross the line, he’s certain Amanda will be there to have his back.

On Wednesday’s Young and the Restless episode, Billy admits he likes the edge since that’s there the fun is. Amanda reflects on listening to Billy’s story all those nights together. They share some nice moments as they remember screaming on The Grand Phoenix rooftop.

Billy’s surprised Amanda didn’t run in the opposite direction right after meeting him. He offers to take Amanda when she mentions the blood drive Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) is organizing.

At the clinic, Amanda tries to shoo Billy away, but he wants to donate blood. Amanda smiles and shakes her head after Billy rambles about potentially saving a life.

After Billy’s donation, he talks about how special the clinic is. Nate’s proud of the work they do, but sometimes there’s nothing you can do to save someone – no matter how hard you try.

In the waiting area, Amanda seems a bit upset as she listens in. Once Billy’s done, he enjoys some playful banter with Amanda before heading out.

Amanda joins Nate in an exam room, where he asks some questions about her health. Amanda’s never been anywhere interesting enough to contract malaria, so Nate suggests putting her passport to better use in the future.

Although Amanda’s interested, she doesn’t offer up her top destinations. Amanda thinks she’s answered enough questions, so it’s Nate’s turn.

After Amanda brings up overhearing Nate earlier, he reflects on patients that he lost – like Carolyn and Hilary Curtis Hamilton (Mishael Morgan). The mood turns somber, so Nate picks it back up by suggesting Amanda might be the miracle-worker who saves someone’s life.

Amanda reveals her blood type is B negative, which leaves Nate thrown. He admits he knew someone else with that blood type.

Amanda gets curious, so Nate finally confesses it was Hilary. “No. No, no, no, no. I know what you’re thinking, but no. It’s just…no,” a flustered Amanda says in Wednesday’s Y&R episode.

Amanda insists she’s not related to Hilary, but Nate thinks too many coincidences are adding up. There are ways to find out if there’s something more here, but Amanda has to want that first.

Amanda wishes she’d never come to donate blood because now it’ll eat away at her until she knows the real story. She decides to pursue this, so Amanda realizes she needs something with Hilary’s DNA.

Amanda worries it’ll be traumatizing for Devon Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) to offer Hilary’s old hairbrush or something. Nate thinks Amanda should talk to Devon and decide how to proceed. Amanda came to donate blood, so she intends to do that and then get to work. They have to find out the truth.

At The Grand Phoenix, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) saunters in and flirts with Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz). Abby wants to show him how bad she can be later. It’s an incentive to keep his meeting short.

Chance accidentally leaves his phone behind, so Abby picks it up and takes a selfie with it. She looks worried when Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) texts about needing to talk to Chance ASAP.

Abby brings up the text to Chance after his meeting and fears he’s in some kind of trouble. Chance suggests Paul probably just wants to touch base. Abby’s concerned that it’s more than that due to the wording. “Maybe he learned about what happened in Vegas,” a rattled Abby says.

Chance doesn’t think that’s it and intends to pay Paul a visit. Abby wants Chance to call her if the interrogation goes south, but Chance insists this isn’t an interrogation. He wants Abby to loosen up and suggests they can work on that when he gets back.

Later, Chance returns as Abby’s wrapping up a work call. Abby’s surprised when Chance admits Paul wants to hire him as a detective. Paul’s in a jam and needs someone who can hit the ground running.

Abby doesn’t see how Chance is even considering this. There’s Vegas and then the stunt they pulled breaking into Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) safe deposit box to consider.

Abby doesn’t think Paul would’ve offered Chance the job if he’d known about his… “Criminal past?” Chance wonders. Abby was going to go easier on Chance, but she confirms that’s what she means. Even so, Chance isn’t so sure he’s going to turn Paul down. He’s a lawman at heart.

Chance stands by the decisions he made in Vegas. It wasn’t what he wanted, but the past is the past. Abby protests that Chance’s security company has so much potential. That’s where Chance belongs!

Chance is surprised by how hard Abby’s fighting against this. Abby feels like Chance is giving up on striking out on his own.

Chance keeps pushing, so Abby admits she’s worried about Chance putting his life in danger every day. “It’s what I do. It’s what I love,” Chance says. Abby wonders if Chance can learn to love something else.

Chance’s heart isn’t in security, so Abby thinks he’s an adrenaline junkie. Paul is giving Chance a way to get back to what makes him happy, so it’s tempting.

The more Chance thinks about this job, the more he wants it. Abby decides if this GCPD job is what Chance wants, then Abby wants it for him. Moments later, Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico) appears.

Chance doesn’t know her, but Alyssa says they have Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) in common. Abby looks fearful all over again.

Alyssa talks about being a very old friend of Adam. Chance gets updates on Alyssa being a journalist and wants to ask questions about Vegas. Alyssa’s looking into a missing person’s case, but Chance lies that he doesn’t know anything about it. He hustles Abby out, but Alyssa’s body language suggests she knows Chance is holding back.

Back at Chance Comm, Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) brings Billy a list of writers – one of which Billy nixes immediately. This guy doesn’t just push the envelope; he burns it! Theo thinks that’s the kind of stuff that’ll get them noticed. He feels like they have to stir the pot.

Billy tries to explain his position, but Theo thinks it boils down to Billy can push the envelope and Theo can’t.

Billy admits he’s indeed calling the shots here. Theo vows to tone it down, but Billy warns not too much. They need someone who can light a fire without letting them get burned. Talk turns to Amanda, so Theo thinks their working relationship sounds pretty perfect. “Almost,” Billy says.

Theo finds Victoria sitting alone at Society’s bar, so he suggests he wouldn’t say no to putting a dent in the bottle and keeping her company. Victoria asks if Theo’s hitting on her. “Just chatting…networking,” Theo says.

Theo toots his own horn about getting hired at Chancellor Communications. Victoria takes Theo’s business card and comments on his job as their new director of talent.

Since this is “purely a business” conversation, Victoria suggests they could join each other. “Victoria! Now it sounds like you’re hitting on me,” Theo says playfully. He earns a smile and a chuckle from Victoria.
