Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that the NBC soap recently wrapped production after the cast and crew completed filming on Season 56. April 16 marked the beginning of DOOL’s hiatus until they know for sure they’ll get picked up for Season 57.
Despite delays due to COVID-19, Days of Our Lives was still able to finish the current season right on schedule. That’s an amazing feat since they had a lot of catching up to do!
According to Jason47, the show filmed a whopping grand total of 112 episodes over the past 14 weeks. They went without breaks during that timeframe to make sure they still made their production goal.
Now the fate of Days of Our Lives lies in the hands of the execs at NBC and Sony Pictures Television.
Deadline is reporting that negotiations are still underway, which isn’t unusual since it often takes several months to reach a deal. Their DOOL insiders are optimistic about a renewal happening – and that’s what we’re hearing from other confident Days insiders, too.
Some crucial cast members have already been working out deals ahead of the renewal. The show will have those in place assuming negotiations continue to go well and lead to the result DOOL fans want.
Days films a few months in advance, so it’s fine for the show to press pause during this negotiation period.
In other words, everything is going according to plan. There’s no need for alarm since nothing is really out of the ordinary, so ignore the sites that try to sell you a doom-and-gloom story!
Big decisions like this take time, especially since declining ratings over the years have made it so the show is no longer profitable for Sony Pictures TV.
That means adjustments have to be made each year in terms of the show’s business model. International sales and other critical tactics are an important part of figuring out how to keep the show on the air.
