Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) the priest will save Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) when his exorcism help comes just in time. Possessed Marlena still has some wild adventures ahead of her, but we all know how this storyline has to end. An exorcism is the only way the devil can be cast out of Marlena – hopefully for good this time!
Of course, Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) offered a hint in the November 26 episode about why the exorcism didn’t stick the first time around. When Marlena acted like she couldn’t get possessed again, Julie piped up that John Black (Drake Hogestyn) wasn’t really a consecrated priest.
Days spoilers say Marlena needs the real deal if she’s going to break the hold the devil has on her – and as luck would have it, Eric will decide to return to the priesthood. DOOL fans know Eric went through a difficult split from Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), so their divorce will soon be finalized.
It was a tough situation since there was clearly still a lot of love between Nicole and Eric, but mistakes were made on both sides. Nicole betrayed Eric with Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) in the worst way possible, but Eric wasn’t blameless since he valued his mission work more than his wife and the stepdaughter.
Eric wasn’t around to pitch in with Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) and Henry Horton (Nash and Clyde Gunderson) either, so Nicole had to fly solo – all while missing her husband throughout her first year of marriage. The separation took a toll and obviously led to an epiphany for Eric about his path back to the priesthood.
Now Eric can truly devote himself to his mission work without the guilt of leaving anyone behind. However, there’ll be a very specific mission for Eric to tackle upon his return to Salem.
If John can’t officially perform the exorcism, Days spoilers suggest Eric is the next best thing. He adores his mother and won’t want to see the devil make Marlena suffer any longer.
It’ll be interesting to see Nicole’s reaction to Eric’s comeback as a priest. Although Nicole will no doubt express surprise, she may think it feels right considering where Eric’s priorities lie and what makes him happy.
As for Marlena, she should be filled with gratitude after Eric joins forces with John to make sure she’s back to her old self. We’ll deliver updates as other Days news rolls in.
