Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Friday, July 9 Recap – Claire Done Being Ciara’s Punching Bag – Mystery Person Steals Burning Letter

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, July 9, reveals that Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) decided she was done being Ciara Brady Weston’s (Victoria Konefal) punching bag – and a mystery person stole the burning letter from the DiMera mansion fireplace. Here’s how things played out on Friday’s DOOL episode.

Outside the Brady pub, Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) explained to Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) that she “borrowed” Brady Black’s (Eric Martsolf) phone and was going to have the call from Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) traced.

Nicole wanted Kristen to confirm that Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) betrayed EJ DiMera (Dan Feurriegel) and thought she was this close to exposing Sami.

Meanwhile, Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) strolled through the town square with Ciara, who was distracted.

Ciara worried about Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) continuing to fight her on the divorce, but Theo offered reassurance before Ciara headed off to find Belle Brady (Martha Madison).

At home, Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) was surprised to learn Ciara was engaged and thought it had happened awfully fast.

Claire appeared and suggested this was a mistake, but Ciara wanted the “firebug” to stay out of this. She found out Ben called Claire and filled her in on the new engagement, so she wasn’t surprised over the two “psychos” bonding.

Claire insisted she was sorry for how she treated Ciara, but she was mentally ill at the time.

Claire was done groveling and thought she’d just wait for the real Ciara to come back. “This Ciara is a stone-cold bitch,” Claire said on Friday’s Days episode.

Shawn reminded Ciara of how she once fought so hard to convince everyone Ben had changed.

Shawn thought it was their turn to convince Ciara now, but she wanted everyone to accept that she wanted to divorce a murderer and marry her best friend.

Since Claire thought Ben was such a great guy, Ciara snapped that maybe Claire should be with him then. She couldn’t think of two people who deserved each other more!

Ciara came there looking to hire Belle as her attorney, but she didn’t want any more of this “crap” and thought she could just hire another attorney in town.

Once Ciara was gone, Claire admitted to Shawn that she was tired of being Ciara’s punching bag. She really wished Ciara would just remember how much she loved Ben.

In Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) office, she found out from Ben that Ciara was back in Salem and engaged to Theo.

Ben refused to give up on his marriage, but Marlena wondered if Ben was prepared to lose that fight. She didn’t want to upset or hurt Ben, but she worried about the possibility that he wouldn’t be able to win Ciara back.

Ben was frustrated since he felt like no one understood, but Marlena admitted she understood perfectly.

Marlena recalled when John Black (Drake Hogestyn) had amnesia and couldn’t remember their life together, so Ben wondered if Marlena ever gave up on John.

Marlena confessed she couldn’t, so Ben thought it was the same for him – that he couldn’t give up on Ciara even if he tried. Ben didn’t care how long it took for Ciara to remember since he was willing to wait forever.

Later, Ciara was surprised to see Ben at the Kiriakis mansion.

Ben revealed he was waiting for Justin because he wanted to hire him as his lawyer, but Ciara insisted that wasn’t happening since she was there to hire him instead.

Back with Theo, he ran into Nicole outside the pub and brought her up to speed on his engagement. Nicole was happy for Theo and eventually asked for his tech help on tracing Kristen’s unknown number.

Theo assumed Nicole was doing this to take his aunt down, but Nicole argued that she also had personal reasons for wanting to speak with Kristen.

Since Nicole was family, Theo agreed to see what he could do and get back to her. Later, Theo texted that it was so great to see Nicole earlier.

Nicole texted back to once again congratulate Theo on his engagement and hoped to herself that Theo would come through on tracing the call.

At the DiMera mansion on Friday’s Days episode, Sami claimed she wanted to start a fire. EJ was confused since it was a little warm for that in July, but Sami argued that she was always chilly in that house.

When EJ suggested he could start the fire for Sami, she said she had a better way to warm up and distracted him with lovemaking.

Once EJ was asleep, Sami went back down to the fireplace and lit a match. She insisted it was time to “burn, baby, burn” and set the letter on fire as she took a call from Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman).

Sami stepped away as someone off screen approached the fireplace and took the partially charred letter out.

It appears Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) will be revealed as the letter retriever once Monday, July 12, rolls around, but Friday’s show left it as a mystery.

At the Horton house, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) was engrossed in an article Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) wrote about Dr. Clay Snyder’s (Michael Lowry) suspicious death.

Jack admitted that he left one particular detail out on purpose – the part where Gwen was questioned by the police.

Gwen suggested Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) was to blame for that, but she admitted that maybe she was tense around Dr. Snyder because he was a reminder of her miscarriage.

When Xander appeared, he angrily pushed Jack to lay off Gwen. That only made Jack more suspicious, so he questioned both Gwen and Xander to see if they were hiding something about Dr. Snyder.

Xander argued that Jack had been reading too many detective novels with murder everywhere. “Who said anything about murder?!” Gwen exclaimed nervously.

Xander was certain it’d be revealed that Dr. Snyder died of natural causes and that there’d be no scandals.

Jack still thought it seemed like Xander and Gwen had something to hide. He vowed to protect them, but he didn’t feel like he could do that if they weren’t being honest with him. Once Jack left, Gwen lashed out at Xander for being an idiot.

As they clashed, Xander threatened to rat Gwen out for lying about the timing of her miscarriage. Gwen wound up grabbing Xander, who barked at her to let him go.

When Gwen asked if that’s what Xander wanted, he fired back that he’d show her what he wanted and pulled her into a passionate kiss.
