Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Friday, October 22 Recap – Devil Confirms Marlena Control - Abe Flatlines – Jake Arrested

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, October 22, reveals that Abe Carver (James Reynolds) flatlined while Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) was wrongfully accused. The devil also confirmed his control of Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) to John Black (Drake Hogestyn), so let’s talk about all the DOOL drama.

In Marlena’s office, John was baffled over Doug Williams’ (Bill Hayes) therapy session tape. John could hear Marlena’s voice clearly, but there was only static where Doug’s voice should’ve been.

“Is Doug not even in the room with you? If that’s not Doug, who the hell is she talking to?” John wondered aloud. John also listened as Marlena asked why someone had come back after all these years, so he remained puzzled and suspicious.

At Bayview, Marlena showed up to stop Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) from visiting Doug. Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) argued that he could ask Doug about a crime and mentioned how Doug had accused Marlena of trying to kill him.

Marlena argued that Doug was delusional, paranoid and confused. She insisted that she’d taken an oath to do no harm – and in her professional opinion, it would do harm if Julie visited Doug.

Marlena warned it could cause a setback, but Julie asked what happened to Marlena’s compassion. She noted that Marlena’s eyes were so cold and suggested she didn’t even know her anymore.

Next on Friday’s Days episode, Abe fell to the ground following his gunshot wound to the chest. After Jake rushed over to help him, Carmine Merlino (Richard Stevens) dropped the gun and bolted.

When Carmine bumped into Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) outside the pub, she recognized him from Philip Kiriakis’ (Jay Kenneth Johnson) file.

Gabi started ranting, so Carmine assumed she was Jake’s latest girlfriend. He warned that Jake had a lot bigger problems right now and ran off.

Back with Jake, he called 911 before Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) showed up. Rafe saw the gun and made the wrong assumption, so he ordered Jake to put his hands in the air. Jake protested that he didn’t do this and added that he was the one who called for help.

Rafe slapped handcuffs on Jake and hauled him down to the Salem PD anyway, so that led to an interrogation.

Jake quickly pushed for an attorney, so Rafe complained about him lawyering up and vowed to make Jake pay if he was responsible for Abe’s shooting.

Jake used his one phone call to summon Gabi, who rushed over and got updates on what happened. Gabi insisted she would talk to Rafe and prayed Abe would pull through so he could explain everything to the cops.

Jake blamed himself, but he agreed Abe had to pull through for the sake of his family and the people who loved him.

Back in Marlena’s office, Kayla interrupted and scolded John for going after Doug’s tape. John tried to explain the weird static situation and how someone else seemed to be in the room with Marlena. He wanted Kayla to listen to the tape, but she got called away to help injured Abe.

At Bayview again, Julie said it was getting harder and harder to believe Marlena really cared about what was best for Doug.

Suddenly, Eli got a call about Abe’s shooting. Rafe figured Eli would want to tell Lani himself, so Eli left in a hurry.

Marlena offered to take Julie home, but Julie wanted to head to the hospital as well. However, Marlena acted like Julie would be in the way and suggested they should say some prayers at St. Luke’s instead.

Julie was on board with that idea and apologized for demonizing Marlena before. Marlena said it wasn’t the first time that had happened and guessed she could get over it. The devil thought to himself that all the prayers in the world wouldn’t help Julie now.

At home, Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) opened the door to Paulina Price (Jackée Harry), who explained she got advice from Marlena and wanted to tell Lani something ahead of the wedding.

Paulina geared up to tell Lani who her true parents were, but Eli arrived with the news of Abe’s shooting before she had the chance.

At the hospital, Paulina barged in the room where Kayla was working on Abe. After Paulina was dragged out, she calmed down and reassured Lani that they’d get through this. Paulina insisted they would all celebrate her wedding to Abe together.

Meanwhile, Kayla said they’d have to intubate Abe, whose blood pressure was dropping and needed to be stabilized. Kayla mentioned putting in a chest tube before Abe flatlined. “We’re losing him!” Kayla shouted.

At St. Luke’s, Marlena encouraged Julie to light a votive candle before Julie said a prayer for Abe and Doug. Possessed Marlena was secretly looking forward to desecrating the church all over again.

The devil thought about his plan to drown Julie in the same font where her grandbabies were baptized.

Marlena started to lunge at Julie and attack her from behind, but John called out and came around the corner. He explained Abe’s shooting and wasn’t surprised that it’d been Marlena’s idea to come to St. Luke’s.

After John sent Julie off to support her family, Marlena suggested they should head to the hospital, too. She acted like they should be there for Abe, but John said he also wanted to be there for his wife. “Except I’m not so sure you are my wife anymore,” John admitted.

John explained how he had listened to the recording of Marlena’s session and heard only static on Doug’s end. He was confused at first, but then he thought about why Marlena would be so scared and would talk about someone coming back to Salem after all these years.

“You have possessed my wife again, haven’t you?” John snarled on Friday’s Days episode. He vowed to defeat the devil just like he did before and insisted he would win the battle for his wife.

“Aren’t you the clever one, John Black!” possessed Marlena declared as her voice and eyes changed.

The devil warned that John’s “precious Marlena” was his now and there was nothing John could do about it.

As other Days details emerge, we’ll keep you posted. Days of Our Lives spoilers say John’s confrontation with the devil will bring some dangerous moments, so stay tuned.
