Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Ciara Brady Weston’s (Victoria Konefal) return is coming up – and not just in Ben Weston’s (Robert Scott Wilson) mind this time. DOOL fans will see Ciara as a hostage within the next few weeks or so based on the latest Days info.
With that in mind, we have to consider where the story will go from there and how Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) will fit in.
When Victoria Konefal left Days of Our Lives on a full-time basis, she dropped down to recurring and agreed to still make return appearances. Of course, those return appearances are going to be sporadic until the show can lock Konefal in for a substantial stint.
Days can keep stretching this out once they offer a first look at Ciara, who’s being held by Vincent Belman’s (Michael Teh) minion. They can perhaps show Ciara’s thwarted escape at a later date – or even have her fantasize about making it home to Ben.
There’ll be strategies the show can use to keep the drama going without actually having Ciara back in Salem and in Ben’s arms.
Nevertheless, Days writers had a plan when they chose to keep Ciara alive instead of killing her off. Again, the goal is for Ciara to actually reunite with Ben at some point. Will a full-blown return storyline happen in the next year or so?
Once Ciara finally comes home where she belongs, it raises questions about how the Hope situation will be handled.
Hope is searching every corner of the earth to find her daughter right now. She left her job and entire family based on the hunch that things aren’t as they seem. It would be kind of ridiculous and unfair for Hope to not be part of Ciara’s comeback storyline at all.
That’d mean Hope would have to disappear or run into some trouble of her own. Although that’s a possible way to deal with Kristian Alfonso’s absence, getting Alfonso back for even just an episode or two would be preferable.
However, Alfonso is pretty busy with Lifetime and Hallmark movies now. If Alfonso won’t sign on for any return appearances, Days of Our Lives might want to think about recasting the role.
Many people thought Jennifer Deveraux couldn’t be recast when Melissa Reeves was playing her, but Cady McClain slid right in the part and is doing just fine.
Hope could be recast as well, particularly if the show can score a noteworthy soap name or if it’s just a quick visit. They could easily write it so Hope found love elsewhere and will return to her new man off screen after a Ciara reunion.
The point is Ciara’s mom is needed for her daughter’s eventual return arc, so let’s hope DOOL makes it happen!
