Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Wednesday, December 29 Recap – Sarah’s Phone Out of Service - Lucas Puts Final Nail in EJ’s Coffin

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, December 29, reveals that Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) got busted putting the final nail in EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) coffin while Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) discovered that Sarah Horton’s (Linsey Godfrey) phone was out of service. Here’s how things played out on Wednesday’s DOOL episode.

At the Horton house, Maggie caught up with Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) before turning her attention to Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford).

Although Maggie couldn’t excuse the things Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) had done, she cared about Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) and knew it’d make him happy if Jack reconciled with Gwen.

Maggie also mentioned how Xander wanted to repair his damaged friendship with Jack, but Jack argued that Xander destroyed it.

However, Maggie put in the good word she came to give and thought the rest was up to Jack.

In their hotel room, Gwen watched Xander sleep and wondered how she could get him off the Sarah track.

Xander woke up and revealed that he heard Gwen, so he assured his girlfriend that he didn’t want Sarah back and wasn’t obsessed.

Xander was merely concerned since Sarah pretended she was happy living this pretend life with Rex Brady (Kyle Lowder). He didn’t get why Sarah would lie to Maggie and wanted to get to the bottom of it.

Xander suggested that the sooner he figured this out, the sooner he could let go of the old and embrace the new with Gwen.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Maggie told Xander that she put in the good word she promised with Jack, but she advised Xander to give it some time.

Xander was grateful, but he revealed that he was really there about Sarah. He explained Rex’s confirmation that Sarah wasn’t with him and that they never even left town together.

Maggie admitted she didn’t get a reply when she reached out to Sarah on Christmas. She grew worried about what might’ve happened to Sarah, so she called her daughter’s phone number expecting to be sent to voicemail as usual.

Instead, Maggie was horrified to find that Sarah’s number was no longer in service.

At the pub, Lucas imagined that Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) found out the truth and demanded that he get out of her life forever.

“I hate you, Lucas! I hate you!” Sami said – that is until Lucas snapped back to reality and apologized for spacing out on the real Sami in front of him.

Sami had talked to Jason Smith (Noel Gugliemi), who stuck to his story about EJ being behind the kidnapping.

Lucas was frustrated since Sami was hesitant to believe EJ was responsible. He was even more upset when Sami agreed to EJ’s request to come by the DiMera mansion now that EJ was out on bail.

After Sami left, Lucas decided he needed to put the final nail in EJ’s coffin. He grinned as he figured out a way to make that happen.

At the DiMera mansion, Chad was with Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) when EJ strolled in and revealed he was out on bail.

EJ insisted he was framed and briefly put Chad at the top of the suspect list.

After Abigail shut down that idea, EJ ran down some other options – including Lucas. Abigail argued that Lucas would never do something so awful to Sami and risk prison time.

EJ wanted to head to the office, but Chad convinced him to work behind the scenes for now.

Chad felt he should be the face of the company until all of this blew over, so EJ agreed – though he declared he’d get back behind the desk once his name was cleared.

Back at the Horton house on Wednesday’s Days episode, Jennifer didn’t think Jack could just write his daughter off and felt the holidays were a time for families to come together.

That said, Jennifer knew it was a really big decision and supported Jack no matter what he decided regarding Gwen.

“The question is…will Abigail?” Jack asked. Abigail appeared moments later and offered to answer the question herself.

She got updates on Jack potentially reconciling with Gwen and vowed not to stand in the way, so Jack decided to call Gwen up.

Jennifer stopped Jack since first she had some big news that was going to have an impact on all their lives.

At home, Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) greeted Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) by calling him “Father” and suggested he took his vows in the nick of time due to Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) situation.

Nicole joked about ruining Eric for all other women, so he was glad to see she wasn’t too upset about his return to the priesthood.

Nicole was happy if Eric was happy – and he insisted he just wanted her to be happy, too. When Eric learned Nicole was seeing EJ, he struggled with the idea of her dating the man who kidnapped his sister.

Nicole defended EJ’s innocence, so Eric let it go and admitted he wanted to see her before he returned to Africa.

After Eric and Nicole shared a tearful embrace, Eric promised he meant what he said about wanting Nicole’s happiness – no matter who she ended up with.

Later, Nicole surprised EJ by showing up on his doorstep. EJ was rattled since he was expecting Sami, but he let Nicole in since she wanted to check on him.

“What the hell is she doing here?” Sami demanded to know when she arrived next. She wanted EJ to get rid of Nicole, but EJ insisted they could both hear what he had to say.

EJ explained that he wasn’t the one who kidnapped Sami and claimed it was obvious he’d been framed by Lucas, so Sami scoffed.

At DiMera Enterprises on Wednesday’s Days episode, Chad wrapped up a business call and left the main office. Lucas then snuck in and used Kate Roberts’ (Lauren Koslow) password to get on the DiMera computer.

Lucas muttered about this being the only way to make sure EJ went down for Sami’s kidnapping, but Chad returned to catch him in the act.

“Lucas, what are you doing here?” Chad asked while looking rather confused.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say Lucas will have to come clean, but he’ll get Chad on his side soon enough. CDL’s where you want to be for exciting Days of Our Lives spoilers, news and updates, so make us your top DOOL source.
