In tonight’s FBI episode, the episode begins with a package delivered to Harry Lasher’s home and an explosive is inside that blows up when his husband, Russell Griffin is near it and is blown to bits. Harry is a cop, he runs the firearm task force. Harry got some cuts, but he is ok.

Maggie is with her sister when they bump into OA. Maggie tells her to call dad, and when she goes to hug her she smells smoke on her and asks if she is smoking. Her sister says she hangs out with people who smoke, Maggie says ok, then says goodbye.

Maggie goes to tell Harry that she is sorry for his loss. Then she asks him if he was getting any threats, ex-lovers. Harry says no but his unit has been pressing hard on some anti-government groups, domestic terror cells, and about six weeks ago that stirred up some house. The guys he arrested, are patriots that were traitors. He says you always know something can happen to you on the job but he never thought they would get Russell.

Jubal updates the team, he tells them that Henry was the target. He is one of them and it pisses him off. The explosive was a basic pipe bomb with perchloric. Jubal says they need to know where someone can get that. They have a video of the package when it was dropped off at the post office, but it is hard to get facial recognition.

Six weeks ago Lasher arrested eight guys who stole weapons from the national guard base. The leaders were two brothers named Hudson. The father, Daniel Hudson has been making noise, he posted a couple of videos where he asks people to donate to his cause, they watch it and he says his sons are in jail while the man who arrested them is in his nice suburban home. They are going to show Hudson’s photo around to see if anyone recognizes him in the neighborhood.

Maggie and OA go see Hudson and ask him why he was in Lasher’s neighborhood, to neighbors recognized him. He says he went there to confront him, but he was not there, so he never got out of his truck and never spoke to him. When the bomb went off, he was in the clinic getting chemo, he has kidney cancer. His alibi checks out and he gives them his donor list.

One donor a week ago mentioned Lasher specifically, it is singed FB33 – they are going to speak to the company who hosted the video.

There is another video of the guy who dropped off the package at the post office, he has dropped off another package. They get a shipping address for the second package, it was going to a guy named Adam Wessfall but he is out of town. They find a postal delivery man, he has the package in his truck. It looks like the battery inside is leaking, they move everyone away as far as they can. The bomb explodes and people get thrown around.

At the station, they look at video surveillance of where the second bomb goes off and it looks like the guy who mailed it at the postal office was there. Same height, same posture, and the distance between the eyes is the same and he has the same shoes. They see him drop a cigarette, they will be able to get a DNA sample.

Maggie is tracking her sister, OA tells her that is a little hardcore. Maggie says she is keeping an eye on her, she just wants to make sure she is ok and it is complicated.

When they run DNA on the cigarette, they get a partial match in the genealogy database. Not the bomber but someone who is related to him, Mark Fraser. They bring him in and he asked if he would know someone in his family could be related to the crime. He says he doesn’t know what to tell them. He tells them that his older brother, Richard, was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenic years ago.

When he is stable, he is a brilliant mathematician. But the Covid lockdown has been hard, he has gotten worse. He has tried to speak to him, but he gets angry and won’t talk to him now. He thinks FB stands for Frodo Baggins. His brother doesn’t see reality as they do. He thinks robots are trying to control his mind and he needs medical care. He tells them that his family has a vacation home in Long Island, but nobody has been there in over a year.

OA and Maggie head to the vacation home to see if they can find Richard, he is not there, but someone has been there. Maggie gets a text from her sister Erin who is annoyed that she keeps texting her to check to see if the is ok. Maggie has picked up a box and is warned by OA that the place is booby-trapped, they need to get out of there and let the bomb squad check the place.

There were three booby traps, they decide to bring the brother back in and track his phone. Maggie thanks OA for catching that, she was distracted. She says she is worried about Erin, she can’t stop thinking about it. He tells her she is young and just moved to NY, she has to leave her alone. Maggie says she is young and naïve, she is worried that she is going to do something stupid.

Jubal updates the team on Richard, he stopped going to therapy a month ago. Maggie tells OA that her sister is downstairs, she has to go. Erin tells her she is there in person because she sounded really worked up. Erin says she understands why she is worried, but she is fine. Maggie asks why she skipped her classes, Erin says to go to a new restaurant with friends. Maggie says her eyes look glassy to her.

Erin says she was up to four in the morning studying, she can’t follow her around and track her, she can’t live like that. Maggie says she is just trying to care for her. Erin knows that, but she is good and she wants Maggie to stop. Maggie says she is sorry, she probably overstepped. Maggie has to go, Erin leaves.

They can’t get Mark Fraser, he left work and was going homesick, but he never went there. They track him, he is in Times Square and has been there for a while. The team heads there and sees Mark sitting on the stairs in the middle of Time Square, he has a bag in his hand. Mark notices the FBI and starts walking faster. They catch him, he drops the bag. He is handcuffed, the bag was filled with cigarettes and Maggie sees Richard nearby. Maggie and OA are running after Richard, he heads up 42nd street and they lose him.

Back at the station, Mark tells them that he was trying to help his brother because when law enforcement deals with the mentally ill they all know how it ends. His brother called him to tell him that he was dying today, and he wanted to say goodbye. He went to meet him to calm him down.

They found security footage of Richard heading downtown by subway, they need to find what else Mark knows before more people are killed. Maggie goes back into the room, she talks about her sister, how she went to rehab and is now clean and she is trying to get her life back and she is always worried and wants to know if she is ok.

She tries to connect with Mark, tells him that she would do anything for her sister and she knows deep down he would do anything for his brother Richard. The longer he is un-treated the worst his odds. Mark says he didn’t make any sense, he said he had to kill Aurora. Trevor finds out that Lasher’s team used a beta version of Aurora on the Hudson case. Adam Wessfall was part of the original design team. Richard is paranoid that computers are replacing humans. Aurora was developed in NYU and Richard got off the subway just near there, it must be the next target.

OA and Maggie are at NYU, Richard was there and wanted to get in, but his ID was expired and he was turned away. They start looking around and Maggie sees Richard near the fence. He starts walking, OA shouts out his name and runs after him. They get into a chase, Richard goes inside a restaurant. He has a bag in his hand and says everyone needs to stay back, he has a bomb. OA tells Richard to calm down and take a deep breath. People sneak out of the restaurant on the side, but one man is trapped near Richard and he tells the FBI if they come close, he will set it off.

Richard says that Aurora has a spirit and it is hostile, Maggie says ok she is getting it but it is a lot to take on, he must be tired, she would be. They have a clear shot, Maggie offers Richard a cigarette, she tells him that he is welcome to have them. She slides the cigarettes over, he puts down the bag and goes to reach for them, which gives OA enough time to jump him and they don’t have to shoot him.

Mark drops by and thanks to Maggie for dealing with Richard the way she did today, it means a great deal to him. He says there were signs, he saw for years, before Richard was diagnosed. He ignored it because he didn’t want to face the stress and emotion, he looked away. If he had done something, said something, he would have had medication sooner, got help, and maybe that man would still be alive, he is sorry. OA walks him out.

Maggie drops by to see her sister who tells her to ignore the mess. Maggie asks her where it is, whatever she is using. Maggie starts going through her things, Erin tells her she can’t do that. Maggie starts going through her drawers. Maggie finds it, inside her sister’s jean pocket. She tells Maggie it is aspirin, she had a headache. Erin then tells her she is messed up and she is sorry. Erin starts crying and says it is so much harder than she thought it was going to be and asks her not to tell mom and dad. Maggie says she loves her and she is there for all of it. She called the rehab center, there is space for her, and she will take her there tonight if she is ready. Erin says ok.

THE END!
