General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that James Patrick Stuart (Valentin Cassadine) has landed a role in an exciting new project. According to Deadline, Stuart has been cast in a live-action comedy pilot for Disney Channel.
The working title for this half-hour show is Amy from Amarillo – and it’s set to start production this month.
Stuart’s role is being kept under wraps so far, but General Hospital viewers know he’s got the talent to pull off his mysterious new character. It sounds like Stuart might be playing a fun baddie based on the show’s premise.
Amy from Amarillo is about a supervillain family that’s forced into hiding. After this villainous fam lands in trouble with the League of Villains, they have to disappear to Amarillo, Texas.
That will no doubt lead to some problematic situations as these villains conceal their identities and try to avoid being eliminated by the league.
Isabella Pappas is set to play the title character of Amy in this pilot, which was written and executive produced by Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore. The cast also includes Lucy Davis, Malachi Barton, Patricia Belcher, Reed Horstmann and Kayden Muller-Janssen.
To give you an idea of what to expect, one of these supervillains has the power to shoot electrical current from her hands. That’s why Amy’s mom, Eva (played by Lucy Davis), has the supervillain name of “Spark.”
It sounds like there’ll be lots of other sinister powers and antics for this family to hide while they land in Amarillo. General Hospital fans know Stuart is great at bringing the drama to GH, but he’s also brilliant at comedy.
We’ve been seeing some of that comedic side come out lately in Valentin’s storyline with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and her fake pregnancy.
Stuart will certainly be a fantastic addition to this Disney Channel pilot, but what happens if it’s picked up for a full series order? That may depend on Stuart’s shooting schedule and how big the role is, but it’s reasonable to assume the GH star might have to depart General Hospital.
It could at least force a temporary exit, but we should just wait and see how the pilot goes first!
