General Hospital Spoilers: Monday, August 9 Recap – Hayden Cover Story Fake – Naomi Killed – Willow’s 5-Step Breakup Plan

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, August 9, reveals that a fake Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Herbst) cover story raised red flags – and Naomi Dreyfus (Gigi Birmingham) was killed after obeying orders. Willow Chase (Katelyn MacMullen) also came up with a five-step plan – meaning she’d end her marriage to Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) once he could take five steps.

After Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) showed up at Naomi’s hotel room, she denied knowledge of Hayden’s whereabouts and pointed out she was on terrible terms with her daughter.

Sam figured out that Naomi had likely been in touch with Hayden at some point, so Naomi claimed Hayden reached out for money – though Naomi had none to give.

Naomi claimed to have offered temporary shelter instead and offered a fishy story about how Hayden was staying away because Violet Finn (Jophielle Love) was a “time suck.”

Naomi claimed that Hayden wanted her old life back and didn’t think she was cut out to be a mother.

Naomi added that Hayden could change her name all she wanted, but she was the “same greedy, self-absorbed narcissist.”

Once Shawn and Sam were gone, Naomi told a nicely dressed man wearing gloves that she did what he wanted.

Naomi hoped that’d be enough to end their association, but the mystery man just stood there in front of Naomi ominously.

Later, Sam and Shawn discussed how the story didn’t add up. After a quick phone call to Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), Sam confirmed that Naomi gave the wrong middle name for her daughter during the conversation.

Shawn and Sam assumed Naomi wanted them to come back after figuring out the clue. They raced back and opened the door to find a shocking sight on the floor – and fans will see that it’s dead Naomi soon enough!

Next on Monday’s episode, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) gave Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) some encouraging words by the Metro Court pool.

Trina was still having a hard time now that she knew Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) was a cheater, so Spencer advised Trina to let herself be angry. He thought it was OK for Trina to feel whatever she felt on the way to forgiveness.

At Spring Ridge, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) didn’t see any need to panic over one unopened letter from Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) to Spencer.

After Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) opened it, he realized Spencer had spoken with Ryan before. Ryan mentioned how he was looking forward to hearing more tales of Spencer’s exploits.

Alexis told Nikolas he could panic now as they discussed what this meant.

Nikolas thought it sounded like a fan letter egging Spencer on, so that led him to the conclusion that Spencer might be the one stalking Ava Jerome (Maura West) – doing what Ryan couldn’t.

Alexis thought that Spencer was a ham and not a homicidal maniac, but Nikolas argued that the stalker hadn’t done anything violent.

Even so, Alexis worried that Nikolas could destroy his relationship with Spencer for good if he accused his son.

Nikolas went against Alexis’ advice and went to confront Spencer with the letter anyway.

Afterward, Harmony realized Nikolas had smuggled the letter out of the facility and wasn’t happy about it.

Harmony was more afraid of what Ryan might do than any reprimand she might face on the job, but Alexis pointed out the killer was locked in. Nevertheless, Harmony seemed nervous about the threat.

Once Nikolas made it up to the Metro Court pool, Spencer greeted his father and wondered what he had in his hand.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Willow found Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and revealed that she’d made a decision. She intended to tell Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) the truth as soon as he could take five steps, which was a common recovery milestone.

Later, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) picked up on major flirting between Willow and Michael.

Once Willow left, Brook Lynn lectured Michael about letting Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) build a life on a lie.

However, guilt suddenly hit for Brook Lynn as she secretly realized she was doing the same thing to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart).

At GH, Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) told Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) there might be a way to turn his long shot into a sure thing.

Austin mentioned some letters that had been exchanged between Jimmy Lee Holt and Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle) starting back in 2011.

Austin knew Edward had mentioned reconsidering things in his will, so he hoped to find proof at the Quartermaine mansion.

Austin mentioned Michael’s indiscretion and refused to do anything illicit like blackmail. However, the doc still thought the situation could be weaponized against Michael.

Austin was hopeful that he could convince Chase to snoop around – and after Chase arrived for physical therapy, Austin began his manipulation.

Chase couldn’t believe he’d missed the warning signs and planned to just end his marriage, but Austin shrugged that was one way to go – implying he had a better one.
