General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that some recent dialogue and story twists have fans wondering: Will Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) face a new coma crisis after Peter August’s (Wes Ramsey) payback? Could Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) end up sympathetic despite the identity deception? Let’s consider the clues and try to figure out where the storyline’s headed from here.
Nina has been written into a terrible corner and will inevitably be vilified once the truth comes out.
Nina’s been keeping Sonny’s survival under wraps for months and is even falling hard for him at this point. How will GH writers get Nina on a new path forward and perhaps make Sonny forgive her lies?
To answer that, perhaps we should think about a storyline involving Nina’s own daughter, Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier).
Despite Nelle’s secrets and the turmoil she caused, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) saw her in a new light after she was seriously injured and hospitalized following a mugging on the pier.
That led to Michael giving Nelle another chance – at least for a while. Injuring a character is a common soap tactic to create some sympathy, so that could be the angle they use for Nina as well.
Even after Sonny realizes Nina’s been lying to him all this time, he might determine that it doesn’t matter much once she has a near-death experience.
Nina’s coma came up when Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) was talking about her old investigation during the August 30 episode.
Could another coma be on the way – especially since that St. Lucia tip was bogus?
Peter could be angry enough to plot Nina’s murder and leave her clinging to life depending on how things play out.
If that happens, it could serve as the start of Nina’s redemption and lead to Sonny sitting by her bedside rooting for her recovery.
Something tells us Sonny won’t just be able to shut off his feelings for Nina – even after he uncovers the truth about his identity and ultimately gets his memories back.
Putting Nina in a coma following a vengeful Peter attack would make sense as a way to keep Sonny drawn to her.
By the time Nina woke up, Sonny might be so relieved that he didn’t care about her deception anymore.
Bottom line, Nina needs some story angle that’ll elicit sympathy, so the classic injury route could be what GH writers go for.
