General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Rebecca Budig decided to speak out about Hayden Barnes’ return and revealed that GH hasn’t asked her for a comeback. In an interview with SOD, Budig set the record straight about where things stand and let fans know what’s really going on.
Since there’s been so much talk about Hayden in recent months, most viewers assumed a return must be in the works.
There was a mysterious female prisoner trapped with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) in Greece, so that added fuel to the comeback buzz.
Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) has also been building toward a romance with Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), so that was another reason to suspect a return might be happening.
It makes perfect sense to create a messy triangle with Hayden, her half-sister and the man they both want.
As a result, Rebecca Budig has faced plenty of questions about whether she’s returning. Some fans have even suspected Budig might’ve turned down an offer since it’s taking so long to get Hayden back on canvas.
However, Budig was quick to clarify that no offer has been made at all.
Although Budig is on good terms with the show and considers Executive Producer Frank Valentini to be a friend of hers, she hasn’t been asked to step into Hayden’s shoes again.
Budig hasn’t been contacted about a return stint of any kind – at least not yet. Of course, it could be a situation where plans changed behind the scenes. Things might’ve got pushed back or adjusted somewhere along the way.
Perhaps the show will still reach out to Rebecca Budig and try to get Hayden back in the mix somewhere down the line.
If Finn and Liz’s love story continues to bloom, we could certainly imagine Hayden crashing the wedding!
Regardless, Budig confirmed she hasn’t been asked back to GH so far.
Let’s hope the show ultimately decides to rectify that since Violet Finn (Jophielle Love) still misses her mom and deserves a heartfelt reunion.
