General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will want to buy Charlie’s Pub as new bar for Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy), but Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) memories will haunt as “Mike” resurfaces. Let’s talk about Sonny’s difficult situation and how complicated things are going to get for him in the coming episodes.
GH fans know Sonny was pleased when Phyllis showed up for a visit. Phyllis wanted to properly meet Sonny, but she also urged him to remember the “Mike” in him and be kind to Nina.
There was definitely some tension during the October 13 episode as Sonny laid down the ground rules with Nina, but there was a lingering fondness there, too.
By the end of that conversation, Sonny admitted he couldn’t rule out the idea of forgiving Nina someday. It turns out someday may come sooner than Sonny expects, especially once he starts working on a new project for Phyllis.
Nina returned Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) watch, but she explained that Phyllis was the one who found it.
They even discussed the possibility that deceased Lenny Caulfield (Rif Hutton) might’ve had a hand in locating the watch since it was found at one of his old fishing spots on the river walk.
That watch means a great deal to Sonny since it came from his dad, so it gives him yet another reason to repay Phyllis and try to keep her around Port Charles.
Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) put Charlie’s Pub up for sale when she assumed she’d have to leave town.
Although Ava isn’t leaving anymore, Sonny will still approach her with an offer for the pub. He’ll no doubt want to turn it into a new bar for Phyllis and perhaps even rename it The Tan-O.
During the week of October 25-29, Ava will mull over Sonny’s offer. She’ll actually think about turning it down, but Nina is a friend of Ava’s and may convince her to sell.
Of course, Ava might also use Charlie’s Pub as a negotiation tool if Sonny needs an extra incentive to let her spend more time with Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola). Avery has spent too long being separated from parent or the other anyway.
One way or another, Sonny and Ava are likely going to strike a deal.
There’s also a good chance Nina will help Sonny as they make any adjustments that need to be made to the pub. It’s easy to imagine it feeling like old times as Sonny, Nina and Phyllis come together.
Ava was right about Sonny not being able to shake those nine months of experiences as “Mike,” so warm memories should linger.
Sonny may officially forgive Nina and find it difficult to resist her despite his commitment to Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright)!
