General Hospital Spoilers: Thursday, December 9 Recap – Sonny Trades Wu Hit on Peter for Yes on Brad's Parole Vote

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, December 9, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) hired a hit on Peter August (Wes Ramsey) by trading a Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) parole vote. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) also faced a “Mike” shock after a comment from Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner), so let’s talk about how it all went down.

At GH, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) was puzzled over Selina Wu’s (Lydia Look) visit to her office. Selina revealed she was Brad Cooper’s (Parry Shen) aunt and didn’t seem surprised over Britt not making much time to visit Brad lately.

Britt felt like she was being judged and assured Selina that she wouldn’t abandon Brad, but that’s exactly what Selina wanted. Selina basically said Britt was a bad influence and wanted her to keep her distance now that Brad was up for parole.

Selina added that there’d be no need to revisit the conversation if Britt cooperated. After Selina left, Britt seemed uneasy as she looked at a picture of herself with Brad on her phone.

Meanwhile, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) wondered if Sonny was going to kill Peter. Although Maxie felt Peter needed to die, Sonny worried any info Peter had on Louise August (London and Jett Prinzo-Berendt) would die with him.

Maxie insisted Peter knew nothing and reminded Sonny that Peter was to blame for Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) death.

Sonny didn’t appreciate Maxie essentially using Jason’s demise to manipulate him, but Maxie wanted to put an end to all the danger.

Next, Sonny had a flashback of Peter claiming his secret recording of Sonny and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) would be released if something happened to him.

Sonny ultimately summoned Selina to his office, where he showed her Peter’s picture and explained that this man would be dead before his trial.

Selina realized Sonny must need more than just his usual plausible deniability.

Sonny insisted Peter was a danger to society, but Selina warned that it would cost him. She wanted Sonny to use his power to swing things in Brad’s favor at the parole hearing.

Sonny agreed to tell his guy on the parole board to vote for Brad’s release.

Selina worried that wouldn’t be enough with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) on the warpath, but she ultimately shook hands with Sonny on the deal and hoped his son could forgive him for this.

Selina assured Sonny that she’d make the arrangements for the hit on Peter, but Sonny had a reminder before she left. If Brad went anywhere near Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Caleb and Kyler Ends) after his release, Sonny intended to make him pay.

At the safe house, the hitwoman strangled Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) until he passed out. Laura Collins (Genie Francis) heard the commotion and used a plunger to bash the hitwoman in the head.

Laura rushed to Martin, who was thankfully all right despite being a bit hoarse.

Once the agent outside apprehended the hitwoman, Laura suggested they could shave a few years off her sentence if she confirmed she was working for Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober). The hitwoman just wanted her lawyer, so the agent took her away.

Laura felt this was good news since Cyrus sent only a single assassin for them. She told Martin that Cyrus had no additional funds and was cut off from the world, so she felt like they could go home instead of to a new safe house.

Martin worried Laura was underestimating Cyrus, but she wanted to get back to the family and community that needed her. Laura felt the only way to win was by standing their ground and facing the enemy.

Back at GH, Nina visited Obrecht’s hospital room. She took responsibility for Jason’s death before Scott helped her explain the fraud charges that Michael set in motion.

When Liesl spoke to Nina privately, she urged her to make amends with Britt. Obrecht insisted Jason was more than just a fling to her daughter.

Jason was the closest Britt had come to love, so Liesl was worried about Britt’s heart hardening.

After Nina promised she’d be there for Britt always, Liesl made it clear that Nina shouldn’t cower in the corner once her case went to court. She encouraged Nina to take up arms and fight for her life.

Later, Scott wondered to Liesl about Sonny and why wasn’t going after Nina. He guessed maybe there was still some of that “bumpkin bartender Mike” in Sonny, so Liesl realized Sonny was the man Nina fell for in Nixon Falls.

Obrecht didn’t mention the truth to Scott, who remained determined to figure this out since Nina’s future could hinge on it.

Maxie found Britt in her office and could tell she seemed down, but Britt wouldn’t really open up. They discussed Maxie’s trip to see Peter before she hinted about what was in store for him.

After Maxie invited Britt back to her place for wine, Nina appeared and got an invitation as well. Maxie wanted to toast to the Peter-free world that she hoped was coming soon.

At Wyndemere, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) was wary of Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) since he was too proactive for her taste. She pushed Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) to come clean if there was anything he hadn’t admitted.

Nikolas confessed that someone other than Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) shot Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig). After Ava admitted she already figured that out, she warned Nikolas that there could be no more secrets.

It had to be all or nothing, so Nikolas kissed her passionately and hoped that told her where he stood. Ava and Nikolas then prepared to make love in front of the nearby fire.

General Hospital spoilers say Nikolas and Ava could have more problems ahead thanks to Victor’s presence in Port Charles.
