General Hospital Spoilers: Thursday, July 15 Recap – Sonny Remembers Mike’s Death – Phyllis & Valentin’s Shocking Encounter

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, July 15, reveals that Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) memory of Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) death was triggered while Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) had a shocking encounter. Here’s what went down on Thursday’s GH episode.

At the new Metro Court pool, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) bumped into Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) and made things awkward.

Portia hoped to go back to how their friendship was before the kiss, but Curtis didn’t think that’s going to be so easy.

After a chat with TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow), Curtis cornered Portia once again to suggest it was fine if she wanted to back off for her own reasons. He just didn’t want Portia doing it because of Stella Henry’s (Vernee Watson) meddling.

Curtis also hinted about how The Savoy’s official opening could be a big night for the two of them.

Over with Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs), she thought this was the perfect place to debut her new look. Gladys gushed over going blonde and taking 15 years off her age.

Gladys was looking to reinvent herself after nearly dying and tried to nudge Brando to put himself out there romantically.

Brando nixed the idea, so Gladys gathered this was about Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson). She thought Sasha had left things unclear when it came to Brando’s role in her life as well as the baby’s life.

Gladys also insisted Brando needed to get involved at Corinthos coffee and acted like there was all kinds of money to be made.

Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) wound up interrupting and sent Brando off for drinks while she sparred with Gladys. Carly insisted Gladys was a lot of things, but family wasn’t one of them!

When Joey Novak appeared, he told Carly he had a message for her fiancé. Joey wanted Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) to know he wasn’t as secure as he thought.

Since Joey wasn’t pleased over the attack he faced and was delivering threats, Carly suggested he might want to tell Jason himself. Brando eventually walked over to introduce himself as Sonny’s cousin.

Brando offered to fix up the Novak family’s cars anytime at his garage, so Joey liked Brando’s attitude.

Afterward, Gladys thought Carly should be grateful and suggested Brando saved her pool from witnessing a mob battle.

Brando also cleared the air with TJ, who had learned not to hold grudges and truly wanted to congratulate him on the baby.

Meanwhile, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) passed along some work details to Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) since she was taking a leave of absence from Deception.

Sasha opened up about her pregnancy and a concern she had regarding Brando’s mob involvement.

Sasha couldn’t complain too much since Brando’s job with Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) saved her life. Even so, Sasha didn’t want the added fear of worrying about mob-related incidents when it came to her child.

That would certainly be a concern if Brando remained caught up in Sonny’s organization. Sasha later found Brando as Gladys was suggesting he could be Jason’s right-hand man soon.

At Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) place, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) arrived and assumed this meeting was about Deception. Nina revealed that she knew Brook Lynn’s secret and didn’t understand her role in all this.

Brook Lynn talked about how it started out as trying to make things right at ELQ and with her family. She also reflected on the serendipity of needing a baby when Maxie had one that needed protecting.

Nina just didn’t get why Valentin had to have his heart broken since he would obviously help protect “Bailey Quartermaine” aka Louise August (Harper and Scarlett Bloom).

Brook Lynn suggested it was Maxie’s call, not hers. She also thought Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) was a factor and didn’t think it was wise to make things more complicated.

Brook Lynn felt like Valentin could handle the devastation he’d eventually face – and Nina agreed that if anyone could, it was him.

Nina assured Brook Lynn she’d keep the secret and later thought to herself that she had no right to judge under the circumstances.

At the Metro Court bar, Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) revealed to Jason that Ellie Spinelli (Emily Wilson) was moving out. He acknowledged that he was a different person while Jason was out of the picture.

With Jason back in his life, Spinelli couldn’t let Ellie call all the shots in their lives anymore.

Spinelli enjoyed taking chances and all the high stakes situations, so he thought it’d be selfish to ask Ellie to stay. He seemed at peace with the split despite his sadness.

The topic of Jason and Carly’s engagement came up, which Spinelli assumed was about putting on a show for the Corinthos organization’s enemies.

Spinelli felt like Carly and Jason were soulmates in many ways – even if their connection wasn’t romantic.

Maxie later asked if Spinelli and Ellie could keep Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher) while she was in Texas visiting family with James West (Curtis and Owen Rufca).

Spinelli wasn’t sure that was such a good idea due to Ellie moving out, so Maxie expressed sympathy and was fine with taking Georgie along.

After Carly found Jason and filled him in on her earlier run-in with Joey, she pitched the idea of Brando being an asset to the organization.

At a pub in New York City, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Valentin decided to chill there instead of going to New York Methodist Hospital too soon. That minimized the chance of raising suspicions.

Anna was hopeful about Peter August’s (Wes Ramsey) pilot, David Hopkins, being the key to cracking the case.

While Anna waited with Valentin, he tried to get her talking about the past. Anna wasn’t interested and seemed to be in a mood, so Valentin thought it was because of the spark between them.

Although Anna tried to act like the kiss was a fleeting thing, Valentin felt like they’d been building to it forever.

Anna eventually got some David Hopkins news, so she told Valentin it was go-time and headed to New York Methodist with him.

That’s where Lenny Caulfield (Rif Hutton) was struggling with chest pains before he was taken for more tests.

Phyllis wondered if being in Manhattan had jogged Sonny’s memory, but he felt any hint of familiarity he felt was probably just from TV and movies.

Sonny eventually met up with Lenny and learned he was being taken for a scan.

While Phyllis was off getting some drinks, Sonny found a cap that looked just like the ones Mike Corbin used to wear.

After Sonny picked it up, he could hear his own words when he was talking to Mike shortly before his death.

Sonny looked pensive and a bit overwhelmed over the memory. He ultimately moved to open the door right as Anna stood outside it.

As for Valentin, he literally bumped into Phyllis and caused her to drop a couple of canned sodas.

They sat down to chat about waiting for updates before Phyllis introduced herself – and Valentin seemed to have a reaction to her name.
