General Hospital Spoilers: Thursday, May 27 Recap – Roger Howarth Debuts as Austin, Hiker Doctor Delivers Maxie’s Baby

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, May 27, reveals that Roger Howarth made his debut as Austin, a hiker and doctor who delivered Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) baby. As for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), he made the decision to head home and left Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) behind temporarily.

First, GH fans saw the feet of a nurse wearing Converse-style sneakers rush over to Peter August (Wes Ramsey) and stand over him. The action then backed up to four hours earlier – when Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) was wandering around the woods in Pautuck.

Maxie got down on the ground and prepared to deliver the baby on her own, but a shirtless hiker played by Roger Howarth (ex-Franco Baldwin) appeared. Maxie was glad it wasn’t Peter and grew concerned when the man started talking about all the bears in the area.

Cell service wasn’t the greatest, so the hiker insisted he could go around trying to find service or deliver her baby for her. Maxie jokingly asked if he was a doctor, but he surprised her by revealing that he indeed was. “You’re not just some crazy mountain man nut job?” Maxie asked.

“You’re the one that’s having a baby in the forest, ma’am,” the hiker doctor replied. Maxie thought that was a good point and exchanged introductions with the man, who said his name was Austin.

As Austin coached Maxie through the delivery, he cracked jokes and eventually held Baby Louise in his arms. Maxie feared something was wrong when she realized the baby wasn’t trying.

At the secluded cabin, “Chloe Jennings” (Kimberly J. Brown) managed to hobble out after arming herself with the fireplace poker. In Canada, Jason pushed Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) to let him go back to Port Charles alone and deal with things first.

Jason promised he would come back for Britt, but she didn’t see the point of trying to avoid Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) deadly wrath.

Britt felt like Cyrus would be doing her a favor since she was doomed to die a horrible death by Huntington’s disease. Jason argued she might have another 30 years between now and symptoms, but Britt suggested it could be six months instead.

Jason countered that even if that were true, Britt should make the most of her time. For what it was worth, Jason really hoped to know Britt six months from now.

Britt felt the same way and ultimately got Jason talking about working for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Although Jason wasn’t proud of his skills, he was grateful to be able to protect the people he loved.

Britt shared a tender moment with Jason as she disagreed with those who claim Jason doesn’t feel anything. Back in Port Charles, Cyrus gave Carly Corinthos (Maurice Benard) an hour to meet him down on the pier with Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs).

Cyrus put Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) on the phone briefly and assured Carly that Spinelli would be fine if she did what she was told.

Carly learned she had to be the one to make the trade rather than a minion. Once Carly hung up, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) approached and wanted to help.

Since Gladys was in surgery and couldn’t be handed over to Cyrus, they needed a decoy. Ava offered to serve as a stand-in for Gladys, so Carly went along with and assured she could keep Ava safe.

Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) wasn’t happy about Ava taking part in such a risky plan, but Ava pointed out she supported him even when she disagreed with his last Cyrus plan.

It was decided that Ava would be part of the plot – and Ava assured Carly that she wanted to take Cyrus down just as much.

Carly called Jason and filled him in on the whole situation before asking to speak with Britt. She wanted Britt to tell her the truth about Jason’s recovery, so Britt insisted Jason had recovered quite well and that he wouldn’t bleed out.

Jason gave Carly instructions until he could get back to PC and hung up before turning his attention to Britt, who admitted she lied. Britt wanted Jason to be careful since one punch to the stomach would indeed leave him bleeding out.

Jason and Britt shared a kiss before he left – and then Britt flashed back to their steamy time together once she was alone.

When Carly met with Cyrus and his henchmen on the pier, she suggested Gladys was feeling uncooperative and was waiting in the car. Meanwhile, Ava was the one in the vehicle. She grew concerned when Carly’s meeting seemed to be taking too long.

Carly felt like Cyrus was losing control of things in Port Charles, so she offered him the chance to give Spinelli back and walk away. Cyrus stuck to his guns and vowed to send Carly a couple of Spinelli’s fingers if they didn’t do the deal he had in mind.

Suddenly, one of Cyrus’ guard brought Nikolas over after catching him lining up a shot. Cyrus was outraged since he assumed Carly was responsible for his.

Cyrus made it clear that Carly blew the deal, so he’d be taking Spinelli – and the next time Carly saw him, Spinelli would be in pieces.

In Peter’s suite at the Metro Court, he looked at his fake passport along with Maxie’s. Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) arrived to offer a death threat since he assumed Peter was spying on Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton).

Although Valentin didn’t want to see Chase die for Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) sake, he assured Peter that he’d kill him if he messed with his daughter or family.

Chase obviously wasn’t Valentin’s priority – and Peter knew exactly what Valentin was capable of. That’s why Peter assured Valentin that if Brook Lynn was indeed spied on, he had nothing to do with it.

Peter confessed that he admired how Valentin could be a good father despite being a horrible person in every other way. That gave Peter hope that he could be a good father to his daughter as well.

Once Peter was alone, he admired a rattle for Baby Lou and imagined meeting her for the first time at the cabin.

Over with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), they playfully insulted each other over the softball league they were both taking part in.

Dante agreed to help Sam with her batting skills, which led to a moment of connection that seemed to unsettle them both.
