In tonight’s The Resident finale, Nic and Conrad meet their baby girl. Austin takes a walk through the park with his mom. They talk about her beating cancer and his childhood in foster homes and how she saved him. When they hug her legs go weak. She cannot feel them, she tells him. Meanwhile, Bell and Kit watch Cain in surgery. He appears to be back to himself.
The team at Chastain visits with Nic and Conrad to meet their baby. They have named their baby Georgina. Devon heads back to the ED to help Leela look over a patient, a chef who has heart palpations and a tendon rupture in her arm. Just then, Austin’s mom is rushed in.
Bell meets with a man who needs a new liver while Nic introduces her daughter to her father for the first time. Austin tells his mom she has a tumor on her spine. She needs surgery. Austin asks Kit but she needs help. She mentions Cain. He is against this. He would rather have his mom transferred to another hospital. What the hospital doesn’t know is that Cain may be leaving.
Devon and Leela learn their chef needs a liver as her’s is producing dangerous enzymes. Bell is also looking for a liver for his patient. They discuss a double transplant using a liver from a donor. The man with cirrhosis would get the chef’s liver.
Irving stops Austin’s mom from leaving after he sees her spinal compression is far worse and they need to operate right away.
Nic and Billie meet to talk. Nic consoles her. Billie pretends to be fine. Kit comes out to tell Billie she is needed for Austin’s mom. Meanwhile, Conrad works to get a patient into a sickle cell program.
Bell and Leela get to work on their liver transplants. Devon watches over their progress. In the other OR, Kit has to get Billie focused as Kit has done all she can working on Austin’s mom. Desperate as Billie freezes up, Austin calls Cain but gets his voicemail. His mother’s pressure is dropping. Just then, Cain steps into the OR and takes over, helping to get his mom stable.
After the surgery, Cain commends Billie while she cries. He tells her to be proud. He visits Austin next who thanks him. They discuss if Cain will stay or go. He is not sure yet. Austin tells him they can work under the same roof.
Sammie is finally adopted by her dads while Nic and Conrad take baby Georgina home. Meanwhile, Billie arrives home to find her son in her apartment while Devon takes Leela home.
At home, Conrad and Nic stare at their daughter while she sleeps. Their lives will never be the same.
