Tonight’s episode begins with Cason Daly welcoming viewers to the live semi-finals with our coaches; Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Nick Jonas, and Blake Shelton. Nick is feeling better, he cracked a rib by falling off a bike. The Voice season 18 finalist Ian Flanigan will join his coach Blake Shelton tonight and perform his new single, “Grow Up.”
Team John Legend’s Victor Solomon performs “I Can Only Imagine,” by MercyMe
Coaches Comments: Kelly: “If you ever sing at church please tell me the location. That was so beautiful, I love great preachers, great singers that do that wild singing. You are so moving, you are so inspiring, it is such a gift. Beautiful.” Nick: “You brought me right back to church, I grew up a pastor’s kid, my dad is an amazing singer. One of the first concerts I went to was MercyMe to hear that song live, it is one of my favorites. I am a little nervous now because team Legend is showing up and you have blown me up in every way of this competition. That was truly a special moment for you and this show, well done.” John: “Victor I loved that you showed so much versatility throughout this competition and now people are seeing the full core of who you are as an artist and as a person. I don’t know if you want to be a minister, but you have it in you, you are a natural leader, you are natural to lead people and to inspire people and energize people. And, it is very good that we get to have you on this show ministering to the country, beautiful.”

Coaches Comments: Kelly: “I loved the song and I thought it was perfect. Blake was right, I don’t know who chose it but there were really cool moments for you. I love the fact that you are a little bit rock n roll and a little bit country. I actually hear a little bit of your bravado and soulfulness and raspiness, you remind me of Travis Tritt, which I love. I thought that was really well done, way to show up when it really counts.” Blake: “I think she is right, this is a crucial moment for everybody on the show this week. It is so weird to hear Carson say semi-finals already, I feel like we are just starting. When you play that kind of card, this moment and nail a performance like that, incredible, I couldn’t be happier for you man.

Coaches Comments: Kelly: “Oh my gosh you literally do look like a star already. How you started out, I thought you were already there. I just am discovering you, people are just discovering you, you are so talented. What you just did with the rap was amazing, all of it, great performance.” Nick: “I completely agree with Kelly, it’s like watching an award show performance. You should be winning every award. It’s got the Lauren Hill vibes, which I love, and it’s so natural for you, it fits when you are in this zone. And if I went to a concert and saw you perform that I would be really thrilled again, and again, and again. Well done.” John: “I could not stop smiling Pia, I was smiling from ear to ear, I am so proud of you because I just see you in your full glory, your full power, doing everything that you love to do on stage, I love the outfit, the hair, but the way you delivered that song, you communicated in such a perfect way. You were sexy, fiery, everything you needed to be for the song. Thank you, Pia.”
Season 18’s 3rd place Ian Flanigan takes the stage with Blake Shelton and performs, “Grow Up.”

Coaches Comments: John: “That was such a revelatory performance because I feel like we have seen a lot of your finesse and a lot of your sweet bravado which we have seen some of that but we also saw so much power and your ability to be a rock star as well, you gave us the full range of your emotion today and it was really beautiful and heartfelt, thank you for that.” Kelly: “I agree, you have always been this sweet little thing and I was like, okay. I forget you are sixteen as well, I never thought you would sing that song. You showed a different side of you vocally and it was smart at this point in the competition. Really job well done.” Nick: “I am so proud of you for digging deep and being vulnerable with us, with the whole country with that performance. You absolutely nailed the vocal performance, it just made the whole thing that much sweeter.”
Team Kelly Clarkson’s Corey Ward performs, “Arcade,” by Duncan Laurence
Coaches Comments: Blake: “You are really making some headway, you won the four-way deal, and that is a tough one to pull out. You are so authentic, and we don’t talk about your range enough. Your singing is incredible, I think you got a really good shot man, you really do. That was incredible.” Kelly: “I got so excited, I felt like you made the touchdown, it was just so great, you are so great, emotionally you take us on such a beautiful rollercoaster. I love that you are this manly dude but you are also really sensitive, that is a real man, it is so nice, and I love it. It was perfect, so well done.”

Coaches Comments: Nick: “You are an absolute star, I think this was a real moment for you in the show and it had to be, next week is the finale. Each one of these performances has to be the very best that everyone has to offer, I think that you really brought it. I was blown away by the vocal control, you are seventeen years old too. I think you are a star, well done.” John: “I have been a fan of you for a long time on this show. I think you are so great, you have so much poise, your voice has so much nuance and beauty. When you hit those big notes today it was just stunning and very few artists on this show can you do what you do as a vocalist. You are so impressive to us, I am so proud of you.” Kelly: “I mean, you delivered. I don’t know if people realize that is an incredibly difficult song to give yourself for a huge live performance on TV at that, and you did just a great job. I cannot believe your age, I cannot believe how technically perfect you are all the time. I actually like that you got slightly pitchy today because you are emotional and it sounded broken, and that is the part that I have been trying to pull out of you because that brokenness and technical are such a perfect marriage and I am so proud to be your coach.”

You are so gifted and so much fire, so much ability as a vocalist, there is not much that you cannot do vocally. And, it is just fun that we get to experience Dana Monique every week.” Nick: “After last week’s performance I didn’t think it could be topped but you just did it, a star is born tonight and you continue to shine. I am so honored to be your coach and watch you be so brilliant every time you step on this stage. You are so worthy to be in this finale and I hope America agrees too.”
Team Blake’s Cam Anthony performs, “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday,” by Boyz II Men.
Coaches Comments: John: “Before you were born, in high school, this is the song that everyone would want to sing at talent shows, it is such an iconic song and a test for a vocalist, you nailed this song. You keep doing this iconic song and just knocking them out of the park, you are a superstar. I think your future is so bright, I am so impressed with you.” Kelly: “That was incredible, people usually steer clear of a song like that because to not only nail those runs but to do your own thing on it as well, that was brilliant. You keep upping your game, you are incredible.” Blake: “To stand up on this stage without any instrument, without anything backing you up, anything to hide behind, just you and your voice on live television, takes nerve. This guy is a superstar, he is nineteen years old and he is going to go far in this business.”

Coaches Comments: Nick: “You just have one of those wonderfully classic voices, this whole setup was so enjoyable and this whole journey you have had has been fun to watch. Well done.” Kelly: “I love you, I think you are so gifted and your one is wonderful. You are one of my favorite country singers that have ever existed, I love your tone so much. You are incredible. To kill a George Jones song like that and the ultimate song at that.”
