In tonight’s The Voice finale part 1 the episode begins with Carson Daley welcoming everyone to the season 20 finale, all four coaches are represented: Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Nick Jonas, and Blake Shelton. It’s a big night, and it has been an incredible ten years. The five finalists will each sing twice; once a song dedicated to a very important person in their life and the second will be an up-tempo which showcases who they are as artists.

Team Kelly Clarkson, Kenzie Wheeler performs “Heartland,” by George Strait

Coaches Comments: Blake: “I thought that was really good, the modulation in the middle was unexpected and I thought was really cool. That was good because Dusty had the mullet at the beginning of that movie Pure Country. I’m glad you teaching Kelly some country music.” Kelly: “That was amazing and it just reminds everyone that we miss going to shows. I think you are so fantastic, I love your voice. America please vote for Kenzie.”

Team John Legend, Victor Solomon performs, “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” by Bonnie Raitt – This song is dedicated to Ciarra for the love that they now have.

Coaches Comments: Nick: “I loved your dedication, in the beginning, it was beautiful. I happen to have met my wife on Twitter as well, I get it. This is a phenomenal performance for so many reasons. But first, you are so creative vocally. There were three or four moments where I just had to sit back and go, what am I hearing. To make this song which is one of the best ever written and to make it your own was really well done. I am proud of you.” John: “Nick is exactly right, I loved how much personality, how much soul and your own artistry were put into this timeless and classic, beautiful song. I love the dedication, I love the passion, you have shown America so many different sides of you. Everybody is seeing so much of you and you put it all out there. You are incredible.”

Team Blake Shelton, Jordan Matthew Young performs, “Key To The Highway,” by Eric Clapton

Coaches Comments: John: “I love what you bring to this show Jordan, nobody is doing music like you on this show and I think it is really great for all of us and for America that you are bringing a different energy to the show. A different genre than most people are doing, you bring your own instrument, you are the best-dressed man on this season of the voice, you have been killing it in every way. It’s all working for me.” Blake: “Thank you for rocking, my God how much do we need this guy, not only on this season of the voice, we need Jordan on every season of the voice to bring that element to the stage, you are destroying that guitar, singing a blues song, killing it vocally. This calls for a drink.”

Team Nick Jonas, Rachel Mac performs, “I Hope You Dance,” by Lee Ann Womack – This song is dedicated to her nephew Ezra who was just born when she left for the voice.

Coaches Comments: Kelly: “The sweetness of your voice is so pure and angelic, captivating and it is my favorite part of your voice. I love that intimate part of your voice, job well done. You look beautiful, congratulations, you are sixteen years old doing this and it is amazing.” Nick: “Sixteen, the only female still in this competition and a one-chair turn, you just got up there and gave one of your best performances in this entire journey and your dedication nearly made me cry. You have so much depth as an artist, as a person, you work so hard and I am so proud to be your coach, go on this journey with you and watch you grow into a superstar, and I am sure America will agree after that performance.”

Blake Shelton performs his song, “Minimum Wage.”

Team Blake Shelton, Cam Anthony “Stand Up,” by Cynthia Erivo – This song is dedicated to the visionary in us.

Coaches Comments: John: “You are just so ready for this stage or any stage you want to be on. It is incredible watching you up here, the amount of God-given talent that you have but also the level of just professionalism, performance ability, all the things that you need to be a superstar artist, you really have it, you have all of it, it is amazing to watch you do what you are supposed to do in this world. That was a beautiful performance.” Blake: “It’s too bad Nick took the chance away from it. This is a big deal, God put this young man on the voice which changes everything on the show, I do believe that. The only thing bigger than Cam’s talent is his heart and his mind and you just saw it on the stage.”

Team Kelly Clarkson, Kenzie Wheeler performs, “The Keeper of the Stars,” by Tracy Byrd – This song is dedicated to the town he grew up in.

Coaches Comments: Nick: “You have been so fun to watch this entire season, to watch your journey, watch you grow as a vocalist. I didn’t even know that you had that upper register but you showcased it tonight with ease and brilliance. And, getting to hear tonight where you came from, your journey and who you are – those roots are so important, I think you have made a lot of people proud in Florida tonight, you should have been proud of your entire journey but tonight’s performance was special.” Kelly: “I don’t think I have ever worked with anyone that had no idea how gifted they were and you truly even surprise yourself in rehearsals when I tell you to go for those bigger notes and then you go for them and you nail them. It is so effortless and an obvious thing your purpose in life is to do music and be a storyteller, so natural for you. I am blessed and not sorry I stole you from Blake.”

Team Nick Jonas, Rachel Mac performs “The Chain,” by Fleetwood Mac

Coaches Comments: John: “It’s fun to watch and your energy and voice were strong.” Nick: “It was brilliant and a reminder of what concerts feel like.”

Team Blake Shelton, Jordan Matthew Young performs “Stay,” by Rihanna – This song is dedicated to his grandmothers, Joy, and Betty.

Coaches Comments: Nick: “I can’t wait to hear the album that you put out because you have proven that you can do it all.” Blake: “It was great! Again Jordan, you surprised us with an out-of-the-box song choice.”

Team Blake Shelton, Cam Anthony performs, “Wanted Dead or Alive,” by Bon Jovi

Coaches Comments: Kelly: “You are a unique talent that conquers any and every aspect of the entertainment industry.” Blake: “You just so much more than talent, a star is born.”

Team John Legend, Victor Solomon performs, “Freedom,” by Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar.

Coaches Comments: Kelly: “I’m ready to buy tickets to your tour.” John: “The best overall performance that I’ve seen on the stage because of every aspect you put into it.

THE END!
