The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Chance Chancellor (last played by Donny Boaz) and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) seem poised to fight over Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor. The return of Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) husband may bring some daddy jealousy and a battle, so let’s talk about the trouble ahead.
Devon felt an instant connection with Dominic when he held this baby boy for the first time. Although Devon knows he can’t be a true father to Dominic, that doesn’t change their biological bond and how much love he has in his heart.
Devon is trying to get used to simply being the godfather, but the connection he feels is only going to grow stronger as time goes on.
Y&R even played up their father-son bond by having Devon be the only one who could comfort Dominic when he was crying recently.
Of course, Chance has been off on a lengthy mission and may struggle to jump in as a dad once he ultimately comes home.
On top of trying to reconnect with Abby, Chance will have to adjust to taking on this father role – and that could bring some challenges.
Dominic may not be comfortable in Chance’s arms since this man will be a total stranger to him.
We could see Chance get a little jealous of how easy it is for Devon to console Dominic. Devon beams like a proud papa every time he looks at the kid, so Chance is sure to notice!
Chance may also sense how close Devon and Abby have gotten while he’s been away.
Although Abby and Devon are just friends for now, Chance may get paranoid and hint at cheating accusations. He’s no doubt been through a traumatic ordeal on this mission, so the stress may add to his struggles.
Bottom line, Chance will have to find his place in this family whereas Devon already has a bond with Dominic that’ll be on full display.
There’s no way Chance’s return will be a simple transition for him, so there could be some hostility that’s hard to work past.
