The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) may steal the daddy spot from Chance Chancellor (last played by Donny Boaz). As the baby’s biological father, Devon may start building a family with Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) and complicate things once Chance comes home.
Devon happily volunteered to donate his sperm and help make Abby’s motherhood dream a reality. He signed up knowing Chance would serve as this child’s father and acted like he was fine with that.
Devon agreed to be part of this child’s life, but it was understood that he’d be more like a fun uncle and wouldn’t overstep when it came to true parenting.
However, things are different now for a couple reasons. For starters, Devon has witnessed the toll Chance’s absence has taken on Abby and isn’t happy about it.
From Devon’s perspective, Chance should’ve made his family a priority since he gave Abby the green light to start one.
There’s no reason another agent couldn’t have handled this mission in the first place. Abby respects Chance for saving the world, but he bailed on a very new marriage and has missed the birth of his first child.
It’s clear that Abby’s feeling neglected – and she’ll soon feel overwhelmed going through this first stage of parenting without Chance by her side.
Of course, this will give Devon the perfect opportunity to step up in Chance’s place.
That brings us to another reason Devon’s previous agreement with Abby won’t carry a lot of weight anymore.
One look at the August 26 scenes should tell Y&R fans all they need to know. In those scenes, Devon and Abby already seem like a little family with their new baby.
It’s obvious Devon’s falling madly in love with this child and could easily fall for Abby as this baby’s mother, too.
There’s going to be a powerful connection through this child, which biologically belongs to Devon and Abby.
Chance could feel like an outsider when he finally resurfaces – and it’ll be his own fault for staying away for so long!
