The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) may want a new child with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). Will baby fever hit after Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor goes back to his parents?
It’s been interesting to see how Devon and Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) have been portrayed in this surrogacy storyline. Y&R makes Mariah out to be an obsessed lunatic, but Devon’s own baby obsession is portrayed as perfectly normal.
From the moment Dominic was born, Devon visited the Chancellor mansion practically every day.
It seems obvious that Devon has been fixated on Dominic as well. The difference is Abby supported Devon’s fierce devotion to the baby since he didn’t threaten her role as a mother.
Of course, Devon is also a mostly relaxed guy who’s better able to mask his emotions. Although Devon certainly has Dominic’s best interests in mind, he’s no doubt more attached to the little fella than he realizes.
The loss is sure to hit Devon hard once Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) returns and takes Dominic home with Abby. Devon has already gotten used to having Dominic around the penthouse, so there’s going to be a void once the baby’s gone.
Will Devon try to fill that void by pushing Amanda to start a family with him? We might see Devon head down the same road Mariah went down when it comes to trying to create a replacement baby.
If Amanda gets uncomfortable and gently calls Devon out, this could lead to some soul-searching and the realization that he’s indeed trying to replace Dominic. Devon may back off the idea if he determines that’s the case.
However, Amanda has been thinking a lot about her father lately and how he missed out on raising his twin girls. Parenthood is something that Amanda could decide she wants in her future sooner rather than later.
After giving it some thought, Amanda might be on board with Devon’s potential idea for a fast family. Devon and Amanda could at least start talking about the next steps in their romance like an engagement and marriage.
Amanda and Devon might want to build a solid foundation for when they do have a baby someday – and someday often comes quicker than soap characters anticipate! As other Y&R news and updates emerge, we’ll keep you posted.
