The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will reflect on the promise she’s made to Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway). It was a huge ask when Abby wondered if Mariah would be willing to carry a baby for her, but Mariah’s still on board at this point in the story.
As a result, Mariah will be ready for the next steps of the surrogacy process. Of course, Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) received some bad news before he was quickly called away on a mission. Since Chance has low sperm count and low motility, that means a sperm donor will be needed.
Abby and Mariah have established that they’re both OK with this change, but Abby will have to figure out the right donor. That means looking through a list of potential candidates and mulling over which donor is her best option.
Abby may wish she could have someone she knows and trusts to donate – just like she’s trusting someone she knows and trust to serve as a surrogate. While Abby contemplates how to move forward, Mariah will offer updates to Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). It turns out Devon will make a shocking offer to be the sperm donor.
This is a little odd considering Devon was so adamant about being in the kid’s life when he agreed to donate sperm for Hilary Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) in 2018. Back then, Devon insisted on co-parenting because there was “no way in the world” he’d walk away from his child.
Devon bonded with Hilary over that baby and eventually agreed to start a real family with her. Sadly, it all ended tragically when Devon lost both Hilary and their child after a car accident. Devon was really torn apart, so this seems like a terrible, painful idea to donate sperm to Abby.
However, Devon will apparently feel like he can distance himself and let Abby raise the child with Chance. Naturally, Abby has to agree to it first – and that may not be an easy decision.
Abby will surely know she’s adding another complicated layer to all this, so she’d be wise to pump the brakes and really think about what she’s doing. Mariah could get attached to the baby that she carries for nine months, even though it’ll actually be Abby’s. Devon could feel drawn to the baby since it’ll be his biological child.
Add on the fact that Chance will be gone for who knows how long and this seems like a recipe for disaster! Chance can’t even approve of Devon as the father since Abby can’t get in touch with him. The Young and the Restless is venturing into ridiculous territory with all the problems in this surrogacy storyline.
Could all of this lead to Abby deciding not to have a baby right now? Time will tell, but it’s safe to say Abby will be blown away by Devon’s sperm donor offer. It’ll definitely be something for Abby to think about, so Y&R fans will see what she decides.
