The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Friday, July 16 Recap – Tessa Fears Shady Past Behind Mariah Abduction – Tara Sobs to Jack

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, July 16, reveals that Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) will fear her shady past is behind Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) abduction. Meanwhile, Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) will sob to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) about Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), so here’s what viewers can expect on Friday’s Y&R episode.

On the Crimson Lights patio, Phyllis and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will talk about Tara having her sights set on Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).

As Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) eavesdrops around the corner, Phyllis will agree with Billy’s observation that Tara is a real piece of work.

Phyllis will wonder what they’re going to do before she notices Sally and tells Billy to hold that thought.

“Hi, can I help you?” Phyllis will ask. Sally will make small talk about Billy’s latest story at ChancComm briefly, but Phyllis will do her best to nudge her out the door.

Once Phyllis is alone with Billy again, she’ll point out that they have double trouble if Sally and Tara are in cahoots. Phyllis will insist that Sally and Tara must be stopped!

Phyllis will acknowledge her complicated history with Billy, but she’ll be glad they’re on the same side as they clink their coffee cups.

At Society, Jack will needle Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) a bit about the merger being all Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) doing.

Meanwhile, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will get updates from Victoria on Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) moving in her place.

Victoria won’t think she needs Nikki’s approval, but she’ll invite her to share her opinion anyway. As long as Victoria and the kids are happy, Nikki won’t feel the need to object.

However, Nikki will think the father of Victoria’s children might have a thing or two to say. Victoria will assure Nikki that she intends to call Billy and will pick up the phone as soon as her mom leaves.

At Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) penthouse, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will call Victor to see if he can help her get some closure when it comes to Sutton Ames (Jack Landron).

Once Victor agrees to help Amanda, she’ll fill Devon in and worry him with the news of the threat Sutton delivered recently.

Amanda will downplay it as Sutton blustering, but Devon will fear it could be something more. He’ll look concerned as Amanda heads out to meet up with Victor.

At the Chancellor mansion, Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) will meet Tessa and offer to help with the Mariah drama in any way he can.

Tessa won’t be sure what Stitch can really do, but Stitch will mention that he bumped into Mariah – perhaps the day she was last seen.

Abby and Tessa will hear about Stitch creating some awkwardness by “mansplaining” pregnancy exercise to Mariah.

They’ll fill Stitch in on Sharon Rosales’ (Sharon Case) theory that Mariah might’ve been overwhelmed by the baby hovering squad.

Stitch will hope he wasn’t the straw that broke the camel’s back, but Tessa will confess she’s concerned something worse is going on.

“What if somebody took Mariah?” Tessa will ask. Abby will wonder aloud about who would abduct Mariah and why, but Stitch will think that’s a real leap.

Stitch won’t want Abby and Tessa panicking, but he’ll let them toss around potential kidnapper suspects.

Tessa will point out that Mariah did a lot of sketchy things in her past and will mention Ian Ward (Ray Wise), but she’ll add that he’s still locked up.

Abby will chime in about the stalker who threw the brick at Crimson Lights, but Tessa will admit he wasn’t scary in person and left town.

Stitch will acknowledge that Tessa is a singer and must have fans, too. He’ll ask if Tessa has considered the possibility that somebody went after Mariah because of her.

Tessa will be horrified at the thought of putting Mariah in danger and will fret over when her sister was stuck in a prostitution ring.

Stitch will wonder if maybe somebody from that time has resurfaced, so Tessa will admit it’d be strange since it was so long ago.

That said, Tessa won’t think she can rule it out. “What if those dark days are catching up with me and Mariah is paying for my shady past?” Tessa will ask.

Abby will agree it was a long time ago and will insist there has to be another explanation.

After Tessa leaves to see if she can track Mariah’s phone, Stitch will talk about how criminals can have long memories. He’ll suggest that someone might’ve seen Tessa becoming successful and targeted Mariah because of it.

Back at Society, Nikki will sit down with Victor so they can discuss Victoria. Victor will act like he’s been busy with other drama, but Nikki will gripe about her husband ignoring their daughter’s accomplishments.

After Nikki storms out, Victor will wonder “what the hell happened.”

At the Abbott mansion, Sally will irritate Tara by showing up out of the blue.

Tara will think Sally is her biggest problem right now, but Sally will announce that she’s there with a warning about some far bigger ones.

She’ll fill Tara in on Phyllis and Billy conspiring at the coffeehouse, so Tara won’t be surprised since Phyllis showed up earlier with that phony nice act.

Tara will express concern about Billy’s involvement as an Abbott insider and will thank Sally for the information.

Sally will want a favor in return and will mention that she needs a way to stop Phyllis from trashing her to Jack every chance she gets.

When Billy arrives in Victoria’s office, he’ll congratulate her on the merger and fish for her thoughts on Tara.

Victoria will insist she summoned Billy to talk about something else, so she’ll pitch the idea of the kids staying at his place a bit more often.

Billy will be fine with that and will assume Victoria will have to travel more due to the merger, but she’ll admit she asked Ashland to move in with her.

“Victoria, you’re inviting a dying man into your home and you’re kicking your kids out?!” Billy will exclaim in shock. Victoria will resent the notion and Billy’s tone since she’s actually trying to put the kids first.

Victoria will think Billy can help with the transition and will snark about the children being used to seeing other people in their lives.

Billy will argue that his situation with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) wasn’t the same and will continue to object, but Victoria will ask for good faith and will point out it’s for a few months, not forever.

Billy will worry about the world of grief Victoria’s opening herself up to. He’ll ask if Victoria loves Ashland, but she’ll refuse to discuss the details of her personal life.

At Newman Media, Amanda will tell Victor that she now believes Sutton is the guilty party in her father’s murder case.

Victor will wonder what he can do for Amanda, so she’ll hope that they can push Sutton into a corner tight enough that he’ll reveal something.

In The Grand Phoenix lobby, an angry Devon will approach Sutton. “I’d like to talk to you, son of a bitch,” Devon will declare.

Sutton will recognize Devon as the billionaire who’s dating Amanda, so Devon will hope Sutton knows what his money could do to him if Sutton ever threatens Amanda again.

Sutton will try to stand up to Devon, but Devon will argue that Sutton’s a coward and promise Amanda’s going to reveal it.

Afterward, Amanda will be touched when she hears how Devon stood up for her. She’ll also talk about having more trust in Victor than she does her own grandfather.

After Sutton gets a call from Victor, he’ll stop by Newman Media. Victor will note that Sutton has a serious problem with Amanda, but he’ll have a solution to offer him.

At Society, Phyllis will catch up with Jack and point out how hard this Tara situation was for Summer. She’ll note that Summer must’ve watched Tara becoming so entrenched and seen the family that could’ve been with Kyle.

Phyllis will think Jack can surely understand Summer’s perspective, but he won’t think Tara did anything malicious.

When Jack returns home, he’ll find Tara in tears. Tara will claim Phyllis was there and said such awful things that she can’t even repeat them. She’ll act like Phyllis blames her for Summer leaving and for the broken engagement.

Tara won’t even won’t to talk about it and will push Jack to just forget the whole thing. Jack will seem perplexed and concerned as Tara runs out of the room crying.

Once Nikki finds Victoria again, she’ll trust her daughter’s choices and admire her for taking chances.

Victoria will eventually spot some flowers she assumes were sent by Ashland, but she’ll look at the card and see that they’re from Victor to congratulate her.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Victor and Victoria’s war isn’t over despite the peace offering, so stay tuned to Y&R. CDL will have other thrilling Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news, so stop by regularly.
