The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Friday, May 28 Recap – Phyllis Fears Jack’s Addiction – Ashley Wonders What Might’ve Been

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, May 28, reveals that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will fear Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) might surrender to his addiction – and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) will wonder what might’ve been.

Here’s what fans can expect in Friday’s memorial tribute show for Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters).

At ChancComm, Moses Winters (Jacob Aaron Gaines) will look at the collage of pictures he put together on his laptop. He’ll marvel over all the old photos he’s never seen before and will get praise from Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) for the work he did on Neil’s tribute walk invite.

Once that invite is launched, Genoa City residents will receive news on their devices about this day to honor Neil’s memory. Miles Davis’ cover of Footprints was one of Neil’s favorite pieces of music, so that’ll be the theme of the tribute.

There’ll be a playlist featuring some familiar jazz that Neil loved for walkers to enjoy.

At Newman Enterprises, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will be amazed over how much went into preparing for this tribute. She’ll realize Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) already knew before she winds up at Society, where she’ll recognize a piece of jazz music and play along on the piano.

At Crimson Lights, Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) will offer the Neil Winters special on the house. That’ll be coffee with two cream and two sugar – just how Neil liked it.

Devon will pop in and notice Sharon’s wearing a necklace from Drucilla Winters’ (Victoria Rowell) collection, which Neil left to Sharon. Sharon will admit she likes to think Dru and Neil are back together now.

In their hotel suite, Phyllis will tell Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) that she has something to do before she joins him on the tribute walk. After Phyllis heads to the Abbott mansion, Jack will insist he’s not in the mood to go over all the Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) drama today.

Phyllis will insist she just wanted to check on Jack since she knew Neil was Jack’s friend and felt this would be a difficult day. Neil was determined to help Jack in his fight against addiction and pills. Jack will point out that Phyllis was there for him, too – and he’ll never forget that.

Phyllis will assure Jack that she’s still there for him, so he’ll suspect she thinks he might fall off the wagon. Although Jack will admit there were many times in the last year that he wanted to slip back into his addiction, he won’t have that urge today.

Jack will intend to honor Neil’s memory by staying sober.

Nick will chat with Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) on Crimson Lights’ patio, where Nick will reflect on his days of playing hoops with Neil. After a flashback, Rey and Nick will joke around about their basketball skills.

Nick will shoot a garbage can shot with his trash from the table and suggest he’s still got it after he sinks it.

Back at Society, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will run into Amanda Sinclair (Karla Mosley) and express surprise that she’s not with Devon. Amanda will note that Devon’s doing his own thing today – and she’ll think it’s just as well since she wouldn’t know what to say.

Amanda will admit that although she’s been deprived of family, she’s never lost them. It’ll be a different kind of ache in Amanda’s opinion, but Nate will insist it’s still a form of grief.

He’ll note that Devon’s going to need support no matter what he says, so Amanda will think it’s good that Nate’s looking out for his cousin. Nate will admit he probably needs to do that more often.

Back with Moses, he’ll seem emotional while Lily reads off some tribute messages. Lily will make sure Moses is holding up OK and will be glad to share memories, stories and even some corny dad jokes. Moses will laugh over a couple that Lily offers, so that’ll lighten the mood a bit.

Victor will seem deep in thought at Newman Enterprises, where he’ll have a flashback of Neil finding out that Victor acquired lending companies holding Jabot debt.

Neil realized Victor was in the position to foreclose on Jack, so Victor insisted he could trust Neil with this info since he’d proven to be loyal.

When Jack pops in, they’ll agree about how they both trusted Neil and valued him in their lives. Talk will turn to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) trying to earn Victor’s approval. Jack will think it’d be nice if Victor would finally let Adam pull it off.

Victor will bring up Jack’s son next, which will rile Jack up. It’ll leave Victor realizing he’s hit a sore spot, so he’ll wonder what’s going on with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).

Jack and Victor will bicker, but they’ll ultimately agree that Neil was the one person who would’ve stood by both of them and told them to stop the bull.

Amanda will find Lily crying alone, so they’ll share a nice moment as Lily insists Neil was the kind of guy who always showed up. Lily will want to be like that – and Amanda will feel the same way.

After a phone call to Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) following his business meeting, Lily will have a flashback of some fun father-daughter time with Neil.

At the coffeehouse, Nate will sit down on the patio with Devon as they reflect on Neil’s tense early relationship with Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore).

After a flashback of Neil and Malcolm butting heads, Nate will note that they wasted all that time when they should’ve just forgiven each other. Devon will relate that to his situation with Nate and won’t want to make the same mistake.

Ashley will order Neil’s coffee special from Sharon, who’ll hope Neil knew how loved he was. Y&R spoilers say Ashley will reflect on what might’ve been before a flashback of dancing with Neil and kissing him.

After Jack hears Nikki playing the piano at Society, he’ll applaud as she finishes the piece. Jack will mention the new jazz label that Devon is launching before talk turns to it taking a village for addicts. Jack will suggest that for a time, he formed a village with Neil and Nikki.

In Victor’s office, Devon will thank Victor for arranging a memorial display. Soon after, Victor will let Moses take a look at where Neil used to work. He’ll invite Moses to sit in the big chair just like Neil used to as well. Moses will sit on the Newman throne and admit it feels like he could rule the world.

Victor will note that if Moses ever wants to abandon his medical studies and join the world of business, they always need bright new minds. Victor will promise there’ll always be a position at Newman Enterprises or Hamilton-Winters for Moses.

Suddenly, Ashley will walk in and insist that Moses should stick to his guns since that’s what his dad would’ve done. Victor will be delighted over Ashley’s visit and will wholeheartedly agree with her.

Afterward, Victor will seem somber in the park as he opens up to Nikki. He’ll note that Neil passed much too soon and was one of the few men he trusted.

When Amanda meets up with Devon at Society, he’ll admit he’s been on an emotional rollercoaster. Amanda will confess to not knowing quite how to handle today, but Devon will appreciate her being there. That’ll be more than enough for Devon, who’ll just be glad Neil is at peace.

The show will wrap up with each person placing a flower in front of Neil’s portrait. Devon, Lily and Moses will share a group hug just before The Young and the Restless puts “In loving memory of Kristoff St. John” on the screen.
