The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, September 24, reveals that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will plan to sabotage Jessie Gaines (Jamison Jones) and Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) deal while Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) gets ready for a trip to Toms River.
In a hotel suite on Friday’s Y&R episode, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will put her sleuthing skills to good use as she tries to confirm Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) origin story.
Phyllis won’t find legal documentation of Ashland’s name change anywhere, so Nick will insist something very strange is going on.
Nick will point out that Ashland changed his name before he became a big success. He won’t get how Ashland would’ve paid people to look the other way.
Nick will speculate that maybe Ashland took the identity of someone who was really sick, but Phyllis will counter that someone might’ve just wanted to disappear.
Nick still won’t get how Ashland would’ve paid anyone off, so he’ll suggest maybe it wasn’t a deal at all – that maybe Ashland is dead and that’s why it’s not popping up in any of the databases.
Phyllis will then look into the news station in Toms River where Ashland started working at the age of 20.
Phyllis will ultimately compile a list of deceased males around Ashland’s age and start eliminating guys who don’t fit. Phyllis and Nick will think that’s the key to finding out whose identity Ashland took.
After Phyllis comes up with three options, Nick will think the second one seems the most promising.
Phyllis will warn Nick that moving forward with this could change everything, but he’ll have to see this through to the end.
Since one of these men might’ve been the real Ashland Locke, Nick will be determined to find out who Victoria is actually planning to marry.
At Society, Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will spot Ashland and ask if she can join him.
They’ll chat about Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor, Abby’s two powerful families and Ashland’s love story with Victoria.
Abby will be thoroughly impressed with Ashland, but she’ll warn him not to lie to Victoria because Billy did far too much of that.
In Victoria’s office, Victor will gush over the new portrait and pass along a gift of his own.
Victoria will be blown away when Victor offers the deed to the villa in Tuscany. She’ll take this as a sign of true support for the marriage – and Victor will assure Victoria that he indeed wants her to be happy.
Victor will admit he was quite moved by the story of Ashland’s background, but he’ll remain concerned about Billy.
Victor will think it was a mistake to invite Victoria’s insanely jealous ex and will warn that Billy only wants to come so he can spoil things.
Victor will feel like Billy can’t stand to see Victoria happy with someone who’s 10 times the man he is.
After Billy convinces Gaines to give up 10 minutes of his time, he’ll call Gaines out for going along with Ashland’s lawyer lie.
Gaines’ license to practice was revoked two years ago according to Billy’s research. Billy will assume Gaines actually has an agreement with Ashland where he’s paid to keep quiet.
In Gaines’ suite, Billy will suggest making a very lucrative financial agreement of their own.
Billy will offer $100,000 if Gaines will fill in the blanks and explain how Ashland financed those two news stations to launch his career.
Suddenly, Ashland will knock on the door and call out to Gaines. Although Gaines will stay silent, he’ll write $500K down on a notepad and show it to Billy as his price.
After Ashland and Victor cross paths in the lobby, Victor will think it seems like Ashland has a lot on his mind.
They’ll end up bonding over their similar pasts in the lounge area before Billy appears. Billy will strut over and act like it’d be a shame if one little detail brought the wedding crashing to the ground.
Before Billy can walk away, Victor will deliver a fierce warning. He’ll insist that if “Billy Boy” causes one second of heartache for Victoria during this happy time, then he’s going to crush Billy.
“Good to know,” Billy will reply before heading back to ChancComm. That’s where Billy will talk to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) over the phone and fill her in.
Billy will note that he set up a follow-up meeting with Gaines, who’s willing to offer an exclusive and will be worth every penny if he delivers. “So much for the big Italian wedding,” Billy will say confidently after he hangs up.
Back at Newman Enterprises, Phyllis will stop by Victoria’s office. She’ll comment on the portrait before returning the bracelet Victoria left behind at the spa.
Victoria will be suspicious since this is the second day in a row that Phyllis has been nice, but Phyllis will argue that she’s being civil and will act like she just wants to get along.
Victoria will still think something more might be going on, but she’ll thank Phyllis for going to the trouble of bringing her bracelet over.
Next, Victoria will get a call from Abby, who’ll assure her sister that Ashland is a sweetheart. Abby will explain her heart-to-heart with Ashland and offer her full approval.
When Ashland comes in, Victoria will insist he made quite the impression on Abby.
Ashland will allude to putting off some personal business to get to know Abby a bit better. Victoria will wonder if that has something to do with the surprise Ashland’s cooking up – the one that required a large amount of cash.
Once Phyllis returns to her suite, she’ll see that Nick’s all packed up and ready to go.
Nick will be headed to Toms River, where he’ll plan to get some answers about the three deceased young men – one of whom could be the real Ashland Locke.
Back with Gaines, he’ll be taken aback when Victor pays him a visit.
Victor will presume he’s Mr. Gaines and will guess Gaines recognizes him based on his expression.
However, what Victor will really want to talk about is Gaines and what he’s up to.
