The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Monday, August 16 Recap – Worst Mistake of Victoria's Life - Ashland Gives Harrison to Kyle

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Monday, August 16, reveals that Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will grant Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) wish to raise Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) in Italy – and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will be convinced Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) making perhaps the worst mistake of her life.

At the Abbott mansion on Monday’s Y&R episode, Ashland will urge Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) to get Kyle on a video call so he can reveal what he’s decided about Harrison’s living arrangements.

Kyle will be available quickly, so he’ll get on the video call and wonder about Ashland’s big decision.

Ashland will talk about seeing the depth of Tara Locke’s (Elizabeth Leiner) cruelty when she forced Summer Newman (Hunter King) out of town using Harrison as leverage.

After Ashland mentions starting treatment, he’ll point out that he could be dead in a matter of months if it doesn’t extend his life.

Ashland will suggest that Kyle will have all the time in the world with Harrison once he’s gone, so Kyle will think he can see where Ashland’s going with this. However, Ashland will argue that Kyle shouldn’t be so sure.

Once Ashland explains that he’s feeling like “crap” following his treatment, he’ll worry about how bad things are going to get and won’t think he can be the full-time parent Harrison needs. “So I’ve decided that he should come live with you in Italy,” Ashland will tell Kyle.

Ashland will insist that Harrison can live with Summer and Kyle in Milan – and he’ll visit in between treatments if he’s strong enough.

Ashland will contend that maybe they could meet in New York for those visits, so an ecstatic Kyle will think that’s an excellent plan.

After Ashland reveals he only has two stipulations, he’ll explain that he wants Kyle to keep him alive in Harrison’s mind.

Ashland will plan to make video calls and send letters as well as gifts, but he’ll also want the freedom to visit anytime his health allows.

As for the second stipulation, Ashland will point out that Harrison still adores his mother despite what she’s done. He’ll want Harrison to be able to see Tara, who’s out on bail and can’t leave New York.

Ashland will plan to have strict protocols in place for supervised visits, but he’ll think it’s important for Harrison to visit his mom.

Kyle will be concerned about how Harrison will react to the news of Tara’s arrest and will wonder what the boy’s going to be told.

Ashland will feel like they need to tell Harrison some version of the truth that he can grasp – like Mommy’s in a long-term time-out for what she’s done or that she’s facing the consequences of her actions.

Jack will think maybe they can be a little less harsh, but Ashland won’t think it’s wise to lie now when Harrison will learn the truth eventually.

Kyle will promise to be the best father he can be and continue to work with Ashland since Harrison is the most important thing.

Ashland will throw in one final request since he’ll want to be the one to explain everything to Harrison. He won’t want Harrison to feel abandoned and will head off to fill the boy in.

Kyle and Jack will be amazed over Ashland’s choice as they continue the video call.

Jack will confess that he’s already missing Kyle in Genoa City, but he’ll be pleased when Kyle suggests his dad should be the one to bring Harrison to Milan.

Later, Ashland will tell Jack that Harrison took it all in stride. After Jack acknowledges what a difficult year this has been for Ashland, he’ll be all for whatever brings him happiness.

Ashland will gush over Victoria and agree with Jack about her being a keeper.

At Crimson Lights, Victoria will be relieved to know the kids are focused on things like the cake at the wedding and not all the changes in their lives.

Billy will point out that it’s a lot of changes for Victoria as well, so she’ll assume Billy thinks she’s making a mistake by marrying Ashland.

Billy will insist that he’s voiced his concerns and is now just trying to be supportive. However, Victoria will push Billy to just say what’s on his mind.

Billy will admit that maybe deep down, Victoria is the one who’s concerned – and she’s using Billy to voice her fears.

“Don’t be absurd,” Victoria will insist. She’ll suggest any doubts about her impending marriage are ones that Billy’s cooked up in his imagination.

Billy will ultimately shift gears and hope that they’ve found a sweet spot as exes since they’ve both moved on, so Victoria will hope he’s right.

At ChancComm, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) will stop by and offer updates to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) on all the missing Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) drama.

Lily will be stunned to learn the police are getting involved – and Devon will confess he’s starting to think something’s seriously wrong.

Talk will turn to Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) having to deal with all this without Chance Chancellor (last played by Donny Boaz) by her side.

Lily will point out that Lily has a great support system, including Devon – that is unless he’s having second thoughts about being involved in the surrogacy.

Devon will insist he was happy to step up to help Abby and Chance start a family, but he’ll be frustrated with Chance for choosing work over his family.

Although Devon will be more upset with the situation than with Chance, he’ll still hate that Abby feels like she has to hide her feelings from her husband.

Lily will be glad to know Devon hasn’t unloaded his frustration on Abby, who has enough to deal with and shouldn’t have to hear all the Chance criticism.

As for Mariah, Lily will hold out hope that maybe it really is just a matter of her needing space.

Afterward, Devon will bump into Victoria at the coffeehouse. They’ll discuss how Lily’s been a big help with the kids as Victoria praises her for being so accommodating.

Next, Devon will run into Jack in the park and hear how it all came together for Kyle, Summer and Harrison to be a family in Milan. They’ll talk about Devon’s frustration with Chance and their shared worries over Mariah.

Once Jack leaves to get ready for his flight with Harrison, Devon will call someone to ask for an important favor.

After Billy arrives at ChancComm, he’ll tell Lily about his conversation with Victoria and how he’s hopeful they’re reaching a healthy place. Lily will suspect that Billy and Victoria like having things unresolved between them.

Lily will suggest that they feed off the competitive vibe, so Billy will admit there might be something to that.

Billy will get an idea for an article about how people run into people from their pasts constantly in Genoa City and somehow find a way to communicate. He’ll suggest calling it “The Ghost of Love” and will think Lily should take the lead on this.

Lily will contend that this is one of the greatest dodges Billy has ever pulled and will stand by her suggestion that Billy and Victoria don’t want to resolve their issues.

Billy will think maybe Lily’s looking for that conflict because she isn’t looking for a real commitment. Lily will contend that someone is in denial, and she’ll warn that it’s not her!

Billy will insist that he loves Lily and she’s his future, but he’ll think he gets to have an opinion about Victoria’s choices – especially if those choices can affect his kids.

Lily will wonder if Billy really expects her to believe this is just about the kids, so he’ll admit that’s not the only factor.

Billy will suggest that as hard as he’s tried to support Victoria’s marriage to Ashland, it goes against all his instincts.

“Victoria marrying Ashland…it’s a mistake. It’s maybe the biggest mistake Victoria will ever make in her life,” Billy will declare.

Victoria will meet up with Ashland at home, where he’ll share how things went with Kyle and Harrison.

After Victoria suggests she’s never respected Ashland more than she does now, she’ll give him all the credit for redefining his life in the face of adversity.

Ashland will argue that Victoria is the reason he’s evolved and will want her help to pick out a date for their wedding. He’ll want to be past the first round of chemo when it happens – but not so far out in case the treatments aren’t successful.

Victoria will assure Ashland that they’ll indeed be successful, so he’ll note that they’ll have one more thing to celebrate once they’re officially husband and wife.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Victoria should live to regret her looming nuptials, so stay tuned to Y&R.
