The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Monday, June 14 Recap – Sally’s LA Trip - Ashland Tells Victoria About Terminal Lung Cancer

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Monday, June 14, reveals that Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will confess his small-cell lung carcinoma diagnosis to Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) while Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) takes a trip to LA.

At the Chancellor mansion on Monday’s Y&R episode, Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will freak over a news story about a sting operation that went wrong in Vegas. She’ll read that six people were rushed to the hospital, including a federal agent.

Abby will panic at the thought of Chance Chancellor (last played by Donny Boaz) being involved, but Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) will argue that the last place he’d be was where his cover was already blown.

Although Abby will be tired of the constant worry, Nina will insist they have no choice but to tough it out. She’ll manage to distract Abby for a bit with needlepoint until a phone call from Chance comes in.

Abby will be relieved to hear Chance’s voice at first, but that voice will soon become garbled. She’ll realize Chance seems to be shouting, but the line will go dead.

Meanwhile, Sally will get updates on Lauren Baldwin’s (Tracey E. Bregman) meeting with Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leinter). Lauren will also mention that Sally seems a bit subdued lately.

Sally will promise that she’s taking an “it is what it is” approach to what happened with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and has chosen to let it go. She’ll note that her recent issues are because of Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) desire to see her fail.

Lauren will downplay Phyllis’ actions and argue that Phyllis never intended to trash Sally’s career.

When Sally asks to cut the work day short early and recharge her batteries, Lauren will enthusiastically agree. She’ll push Sally to go have fun, so Sally will head back to the Grand Phoenix to get ready for her trip to Los Angeles.

At the Abbott mansion, Tara will talk to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) about how Ashland came through on his custody offer. She’ll mention Victoria potentially going on Ashland’s trip with him and having something to do with the change of heart.

Tara will admit to looking around for somewhere to live since she can’t stay at the Abbott mansion forever. Jack will reassure Tara about staying as long as she needs before Summer Newman (Hunter King) arrives.

Summer will get the good news about Ashland doing what he said he would on the custody agreement. She won’t look happy about Tara’s plan to start a new life there in town.

When Summer wants to talk to Kyle about the wedding, Tara will pipe up that a fun, light conversation is exactly what he needs. She’ll suggest Kyle could play with Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) in the park afterward, so Summer will want to tag along.

Suddenly, Jack will need Kyle’s help putting out a work fire. Kyle’s spreadsheet will be on a thumb drive back in his hotel suite, so he’ll have to go get it.

In the meantime, Tara will suggest that Summer should stay and let them get better acquainted since they’re going to be part of each other’s lives.

Summer will claim that sounds great as they both plaster on phony smiles. Once they’re alone, Tara will gush over how quickly Kyle has taken to Harrison. She’ll understand how all the time Kyle’s spending with his son might be a problem for Summer.

However, Summer will insist it’s no problem at all. Tara will act like she admires Summer for being so supportive and managing all the changes.

Summer will assure Tara that there’s no need to be concerned since she’s survived way more challenging situations with her fiancé. The whole conversation will reek of fake niceness!

Back with Sally, she’ll have her suitcase when she runs into Jack. Jack will wonder if this trip is for Fenmore’s, but Sally will claim it’s personal and that she’s just catching up with an old friend. “Is that so?” Jack will ask skeptically.

Sally will get the feeling Jack has a question, so she’ll push him to come out with it. Jack will wonder if Sally’s moving back to LA, so she’ll ask if he’d be happy if she did.

When Jack suggests Sally would be better suited to the pace out there, she’ll insist she likes the pace in GC just fine.

Sally will make it clear that she’s accepted her romance with Jack isn’t going to happen. She’ll still have something to prove in Genoa City and will vow to stay.

Later, Sally will surprise Eric Forrester (John McCook) on a patio at Forrester Creations in LA. Eric will argue that Sally’s about the last person anyone around there wants to see, but she’ll promise she’s not scheming and genuinely wants to help a friend.

Sally will talk about how much the Marketi job would mean to Summer. She’ll argue that the optics wouldn’t look good if Summer bailed on JCV so soon, but it’d be different if Marketi came to Summer.

Sally will want Eric to go to bat for Summer taking the position, but he’ll think he needs to check with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) first.

Sally will urge Eric not to since that’d ruin the surprise. She’ll insist Summer will be disappointed if she doesn’t get this job – though Sally will want her own name kept out of this.

Eric will wonder what’s in it for Sally, so she’ll admit it’d be a dream come true to take over Summer’s JCV position. Nevertheless, Sally will insist it’s a win-win and will be pleased when Eric agrees to think about it.

At the park, Kyle and Harrison will run into The Bold and the Beautiful’s Danny (Keith Carlos) and his son KJ (Keith Carlos Jr). Danny will note that they’re in town visiting his parents, and the dads will be pleased when their boys become fast friends.

Later, Jack will praise Kyle for making Harrison the priority over work. They’ll share a sweet moment as Jack assures Kyle he’s a natural at this dad thing.

Summer will arrive soon after – and Tara won’t be far behind. There’ll be more tension as Kyle offers to help Tara make the most of her new life in Genoa City.

In New York, Victoria will notice that Ashland is acting odd after his meeting. She’ll suspect Ashland got bad news, but he’ll distract her with wine. Victoria will get Ashland talking about art and will wonder if maybe there’s a hidden artist yearning inside him.

Victoria will ask if Ashland fantasizes about chucking it all for a garret in Paris – because it’s not too late!

Ashland will seem somber and will come clean about his meeting actually being a doctor’s appointment. He’ll confess to meeting with a specialist and learning that it’s too late for a lot of things.

Ashland will explain that after his heart attack, he had a chest x-ray before they put in his pacemaker. They weren’t sure at first, but it’s now been confirmed that Ashland has small-cell lung carcinoma.

Ashland will add that it’s in the advanced stages, so he only has six months to live. A shocked Victoria will insist she’s so sorry. She’ll ask about treatments to extend Ashland’s life, but Ashland will note that the success rate is low and they’re rather grueling.

Ashland won’t want to prolong his life under those circumstances.

Victoria will be surprised that Ashland even wants her there right now since they’re practically strangers. However, Ashland will admit Victoria doesn’t feel like one. He’ll think it feels like they’ve always known each other.

Victoria will question if maybe this changes things and could lead to a reconciliation with Tara, but Ashland will argue that it’s too late for that.

Ashland will reflect on how Harrison’s memories of him will fade in time – leaving Kyle as the only dad he remembers. He’ll acknowledge that Kyle is intelligent and seems sincere albeit gullible.

Ashland will ask if Victoria thinks Summer will be a good stepmom, so Victoria will confess she never really thought of Summer as a mother.

That said, Victoria will point out that Summer likes kids and has a close relationship with her younger siblings. Ashland will note that Harrison is going to have a “hell of a legacy” with those Abbott and Newman ties. He’ll know it’s strange, but he’ll think that brings him some peace.

After Ashland takes a work call, Victoria will ask if he’s afraid. Ashland will talk about some of the risks he’s taken in his life and view this one as different since he’s not choosing it.

Victoria will feel like Ashland needs to make every moment count. “So what do you want to do with this one?” Victoria will ask as they exchange a steamy look in her hotel suite.
