The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) deserves better since she looks so pathetic with her Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and JCV obsession. A major character reset is needed to put Sally on a better path.
There are plenty of reasons to complain about the writing for Sally – starting with the fact that this was supposed to be a fresh start for her. Instead, it turned into a repeat of another storyline that left Sally looking crazy and despicable.
When Courtney Hope was fired from The Bold and the Beautiful, she was given a horrible exit arc. Sally faked a terminal illness that gave her career a big boost – and more importantly, led to her trying to reel in an ex who didn’t want her.
The scheme naturally failed and left Sally looking like a desperate nut job.
After Hope was hired on Y&R, many B&B fans were excited to see her get a clean slate on a new show.
It’s fine for Sally to be a schemer, but there are limits to how far you can take it. Somehow things have turned out just as bad or worse for Sally in Genoa City as they did in LA!
Once again, Sally is chasing after a man who keeps rejecting her. The worst part is that Jack’s not really even a good match for Sally, who keeps trying to force something to happen between them.
Jack’s a nice guy, but he’s quite frankly too old for Sally. Their life goals were never going to match up – and Jack’s far too straightlaced for a wild gal like Sally anyway.
No one wants Sally to be boring, so we don’t mind if she does some scheming here and there. Could Sally at least be decent at it though?
In what universe did Sally think she could openly ask Eric Forrester (John McCook) to get Summer Newman (Hunter King) this Italy job and not have that come back to bite her?
Sally should’ve found a way to keep her own involvement on the down low, but she turned to her former boss who also happens to be an old friend of Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).
This plan has been a disaster from the get-go – and for what? This JCV position isn’t even all that great!
Sally could’ve gone after the Milan job herself or at least sought other opportunities instead of clinging to this lackluster one.
It just goes back to this sad fight for Jack since Sally wanted to stick around for a doomed romance.
Sally needs to dial down her ill-advised plots and get smarter about how she handles things.
Sally also needs a nonjudgmental love interest closer to her age – maybe even a bad boy she can scheme alongside instead of having to hide it from him.
There’s still hope for Sally’s character and her future in GC if the show will do a proper reset. Do you think Sally’s looking too pathetic these days?
