The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) could snatch Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) for solving the kidnapper mystery. Will Tessa become another hostage who joins captive Mariah? Let’s mull over how things have played out so far and consider where they might be headed next.
For starters, those reassuring texts basically parroted back all the concerns Mariah’s loved ones shared with Stitch. He found out about the speculation that maybe Mariah felt smothered and overwhelmed.
Soon after, Mariah – or someone claiming to be Mariah – sent messages that conveyed exactly what Stitch heard.
Stitch has thrown in some other theories like Tessa’s shady past or a fan potentially being to blame, so perhaps he’s just been trying to keep them guessing and make himself look innocent.
It’s always been weird that Stitch showed up right before this missing Mariah drama went down.
Stitch was stalking the house and watching pregnant Mariah through the window, so it feels obvious that he had something to do with the snatching.
Y&R has even started playing ominous music when Stitch arrives at the door. Stitch basically has a flashing neon sign above his head that says he’s guilty and someone to be wary of.
There’s sort of a strange sadness mixed with something eerie whenever Stitch interacts with those around him. Carrigan is playing Stitch with another creepy layer that was never there before.
Stitch clearly doesn’t want anyone to know he’s behind Mariah’s kidnapping if that’s indeed the case, but he also has to keep up the innocent act and pretend he’s being helpful.
Of course, Tessa may wind up in danger herself by the end of all this!
What if Tessa’s on the verge of figuring out Stitch isn’t so innocent after all? In the Thursday, July 22 episode, Tessa texted Mariah and pushed her girlfriend to send some sort of clue – something that Tessa would understand.
If given the opportunity, Mariah will no doubt do what Tessa asks.
However, this plan could backfire if Tessa puts the puzzle pieces together and realizes Stitch is to blame for abducting Mariah.
If Tessa threatens to call the cops or simply follows the clues to Mariah’s location, Stitch might snatch her up as well. It might even be a situation where Tessa gets lured into a trap.
It’s easy to imagine Mariah and Tessa being held captive together for the next portion of the story – leaving Abby, Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) truly fearful.
It may be an unavoidable complication for Stitch, but it would also seal the deal on something being seriously wrong for the rest of the baby crew.
