The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 26, reveals that Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) will cry as Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) begs for the truth. Meanwhile, Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) phone will be found in the doc’s room.
In captivity on Thursday’s Y&R episode, Mariah will once again plead for help as she looks into the camera. She’ll tell Bowie that he’s loved and will decide she needs to be prepared in case Bowie indeed wants today to be his birthday.
Mariah will sing a song Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) wrote to calm herself down and will think of the celebration they’re all going to have once this nightmare is over.
Once Mariah’s all set with clean towels and water bottles, she’ll realize she can’t delay this any longer. Mariah will groan in pain as she falls to the floor with another contraction.
In the park, Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) will have a bit of a breakdown, but Tessa will encourage her to stay positive.
They’ll share memories of some special moments with Mariah before Tessa talks about how much Mariah’s taught her about forgiveness.
That said, Tessa won’t think she can forgive the person who held Mariah captive and scared her like this. She’ll hope the kidnapper gets what’s coming to him. After Sharon suggests having a prayer for Mariah, Tessa will join her in saying one.
At the Chancellor mansion, Abby will relay Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) suspicions about Stitch to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
Although Abby will hate to even think Stitch might be behind this, Victor will think they have to look at all possibilities.
Abby won’t think money is a motive and will shut down Victor’s idea about it being revenge for the breakup. She’ll get increasingly upset as she considers the idea that Stitch is actually responsible for Mariah’s disappearance.
At the penthouse, Devon will pass along the protein bar story to Denise Tolliver (Telma Hopkins), who’ll sense that he’s skeptical of Stitch’s claims.
Denise will hear about some of Stitch’s creepy behavior, but she’ll think the real red flag is lying about the job in Genoa City.
If there’s one thing Denise has learned as a PI, it’s that you should never ignore gut feelings.
Afterward, Devon will join Victor and Abby at the Chancellor mansion. He’ll mention that Denise has now made Stitch the focus of her investigation.
Victor and Devon will think they need to confront Stitch since time is of the essence, but they’ll warn Abby to stay behind since Stitch may not be as honest with her.
Once Devon and Victor leave, Abby will text Stitch to ask him if he can come by the house. Stitch will smile slightly over the message before exiting Society.
After Stitch shows up, Abby will talk about how she’s not sure about anything anymore. She’ll insist all she knows is that she feels better when Stitch is around and will embrace him.
Abby will have a weepy meltdown as she admits she’s freaking out and doing this all alone.
However, Stitch will quickly go in for another hug and point out that he’s there for Abby.
Once Abby suggests there’s still something between them after all this time, Stitch will admit he’s always felt so connected to her.
Abby will ask if Stitch came back to GC to be with her. She’ll wonder if there was ever really a job at the hospital, but Stitch will hesitate on answering.
There’ll be more tears as Abby insists Stitch can tell her anything and she won’t be angry.
Stitch will also start to cry as he marvels over how understanding Abby is. Abby will sense the guilt in Stitch’s eyes over the miscarriage, but she’ll assure him that it wasn’t his fault.
Abby will know Stitch felt the loss just as deeply and will be scared of losing yet another baby.
Stitch will vow not to let that happen and will start to admit something. “You admit what?” Abby will ask as she gives Stitch a gentle nudge.
Stitch will confess that he came back for Abby – that life has been so hard since he left, so he needed to make things right. He’ll add that he was hoping for some kind of redemption and will feel like it was crazy.
Stitch will contend that he truly believed Abby was the only one who could put him back on course.
Abby will counter that they can make things right for each other. She’ll tell Stitch that all is forgiven. “Just please…please tell me where they are,” Abby will beg.
At Crimson Lights, Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) will be confused over a gap in the surveillance footage. Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will wonder if the video might’ve been tampered with, but Kevin won’t be able to tell without a more in-depth analysis.
Rey and Kevin will speculate that the old man could’ve come in during the 37-second gap, but Kevin will take a closer look and see a man in the store with Stitch who fits the description.
There won’t be anything in the man’s cart – and Stitch will be seen checking out without being close enough to see any shopping list.
Kevin will struggle to believe that a respected doctor like Stitch would snatch Mariah, but Rey will shrug that sometimes doctors commit crimes.
Rey will think Stitch might’ve made the whole thing up and led them on a wild goose chase.
Suddenly, Kevin will receive word from the IT team about Mariah’s phone location being found. Rey will find out it’s at The Grand Phoenix, though he won’t be able to pinpoint exactly where in the building.
Devon and Victor will also end up in The Grand Phoenix lobby, where Devon will mention his PI poking another hole in Stitch’s story.
It turns out Stitch doesn’t even have a job in Iowa City since he was fired from it a few months ago.
Once Rey shows up, he’ll join Victor and Devon as they search Stitch’s room.
Devon will call Mariah’s phone – and sure enough, it’ll ring inside Stitch’s bag nearby. “So it was Stitch all the time,” Victor will say as he realizes.
