The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will get ready to move forward with the surrogacy process. Y&R fans know Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) still wants to have a baby despite the many challenges she’s facing.
Abby found out she couldn’t carry a baby herself – and that was followed by the news that Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) couldn’t father a baby right now due to low sperm count and low motility problems. Abby’s eggs are still viable, so she’s prepared to use a sperm donor and let Mariah carry this child for her.
However, The Young and the Restless spoilers say Abby will face a difficult decision during the week of February 22-26. Could that mean that doubts will finally creep in?
Perhaps Abby has been clinging to this baby as some sort of Chance lifeline. It might be time for Abby to finally put this baby dream on hold and accept her unfortunate circumstances for now.
Chance has departed on an extremely dangerous mission, so Abby has every reason to pump the brakes. It makes zero sense for Abby to go ahead with the surrogacy – all while not knowing when Chance will return or even if he’ll return at all.
There are no guarantees when you risk your life through your job, which is what Chance is doing. Abby has been awfully determined to become a mom, but will she keep that attitude as Mariah takes the next steps?
It’s worth mentioning that Mariah’s set to deal with some doubts of her own. Mariah will grow concerned about this surrogacy and how it’s forcing her to put her own future with Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) on hold. There’ll be some fears about the impact this could have on Mariah and Tessa’s relationship.
Abby could easily overhear Mariah wavering on the idea. Mariah might fret over not wanting to disappoint Abby, especially since she made a firm promise. Abby’s difficult decision might be to accept this isn’t the right time to have a baby – and perhaps that Mariah isn’t the right person to help.
Abby can still have a family someday, but she needs to do it with Chance by her side. If Chance never comes home, then Abby can make new plans that don’t include him. Regardless, the point is there’s no need to rush into this.
Naturally, it’s possible Abby’s decision will be related to choosing a donor or some other portion of the surrogacy. Even so, these Y&R spoilers make it sound like Abby’s decision will be an unpleasant one – not an exciting part of planning her family’s future.
Will Abby’s tough choice involve calling off the surrogacy for now? Will Abby let Mariah off the hook and decide it’d be better to wait for Chance? Now that Y&R writers have had a little time to adjust for Chance’s exit, this could be the route they’ll decide to take.
