Severide and Kidd were planning their last-minute wedding at the start of tonight’s episode. They both realized that they love each other too much to let one little fight get in the way and so they decided to bring up their wedding date. Once they decided on that, everything just started to fall into place. They found a venue with no problem. They got a nice hotel that had another wedding planned for that Saturday only that wedding got canceled at the last minute and so neither Severide nor Kidd needed a deposit. It was already paid for by the other couple. The other couple also paid for the minister as well.

So, the minister was free too. Severide and Kidd just needed to get everything else to fall into line. They needed booze and Hermann had already offered them an amazing discount from Molly’s. The rest of the firefighters were also helping with the other details as well. Everyone was really rallying around the couple. Even Brett. Brett returned from her trip early in order to be there at the wedding and she said Casey will also become. He just needed to get someone to cover his shift first. Everything was falling into place and then something happened. Severide was supposed to meet someone at the courtroom.

Only Severide noticed that one of the guys that beat him up was there. He followed the guy. The other guy pulled a knife. They got into a fight and Severide kicked him away, but the guy fell through a window and he fell all the way down to the street. He died. Severide killed him. Severide may not have meant to kill him only he killed him and so that could have ended very badly for him. Thankfully, it didn’t. The other guy had been following him and he had been found with his knife. There was also another plus. The guy received his talking orders from someone higher up in the drug trade.

Meaning the police can now move on that guy for sanctioning Severide’s beatdown. They have the dead guy’s phone and that was giving them a whole bunch of evidence. Severide was in the clear. He was told that he could put this behind him but thinking that and doing that were two different things. Severide struggled with not blaming himself. He needed something to take his mind off it and luckily that’s where Casey came in. Casey returned to Chicago. He got to leave and he was there for the wedding. It was good to have Casey back. Everyone was happier with him in the room and he got to hear the good news.

Kidd asked Chief Boden to walk her down the aisle. He was so honored that he of course agreed. The crew also threw Kidd a bachelorette party inside of the firehouse and so Brett being back was great. Brett even got to hear about the Emma drama. Emma was full-blown crazy. She did everything possible to steal Violet’s job and she thinks that the firefighters will look on her as a family once she was there permanently. Violet had heard from her boyfriend, Chief Hawkins, that they might not be anything they can do to stop Emma from taking them both down if she tried. Hawkins couldn’t speak for Violet because everyone assumes he’s doing this because of their relationship.

Nevertheless, he did try. He spoke to his superiors. He did the best he could do for Violet. He told them that they could demote him as long as they didn’t hurt Violet and so he really does love her. It just might not be enough to save her job. Violet had to continue working alongside Emma. They got called to a fire along with everyone else. Violet and Emma had to go into a building next door because a pregnant woman didn’t evacuate with everyone else. They went up and they found the woman. She had gotten impaled through her shoulder by debris from the building next door. Gallo had to cut her free because the pike went through the wall.

The fire was also coming into their building. Emma started panicking. She ran out of there. She was afraid of the fire and she thought those who stayed were going to die. Which was the furthest from the truth. Violet stayed behind with the pregnant woman. She delivered the woman’s baby and the firefighters carried the woman out. It was a beautiful rescue. What Emma did was also seen by everyone and so she was fired because of it. Now, if she wants to talk, it will just look like grievances from a fired employee. And so Violet gets to keep her job and a job will be there for Brett when she officially returns.

Violet realized that her relationship with Hawkins was a mistake. She was going to end it. She didn’t even invite him to the wedding and it’s good because the wedding ended up being rather tight. Their venue fell through because the original couple decided to go ahead with their wedding. They were basically stuck when Casey got them a cruise. Some of the guys got more chairs than they were asked to bring and so they had everything they needed for the wedding. The ship’s captain also was able to marry them.

Severide and Kidd said their own vows. They’ve got the blessings of all their loved ones once Severide’s mom gave them hers and so the wedding was beautiful and would have been a fitting end, but it wasn’t the end. The end was when Severide and Kidd went to their cabin in the woods to celebrate their honeymoon and someone else showed up.

THE END
