In tonight’s Chicago Med episode, Dr. Ethan Choi used his time before his wedding to talk to Sharon. He has the idea of opening a mobile clinic. He has money that his dad left him and April also has savings and so they were going to use that to open this clinic that would go directly towards helping the community. Choi discussed his idea with Sharon because he wanted to give notice. He was leaving Chicago Med. The mobile clinic was going to need all the help they could get and he wanted to devote his full schedule to get it off the ground. Sharon was sad to see him go, but she was proud of the work he’ll be doing and she offered him her best wishes.

Choi leaving was both sad and happy news. It surprised Sharon. It surprised everyone at the hospital. Across town, Dr. Charles was also getting a happy surprise. He went to a bar to relax after work and there he heard a wonderful singer. The singer sang in her native tongue. She also looked familiar to him. He just couldn’t figure out how he knew her and so he asked her after her set. She said her name is Lilliana. She cleans his office. She was usually in there after work and it’s rare they come across each other. It’s okay that he didn’t recognize her right away. Lilliana said she’d see him later at work and he told her he’d see her there.

Lilliana was talented. She was beautiful. She was also nice because she didn’t take Charles not recognizing her as an insult. She instead chose to be kind about it. It makes sense that Charles would be attracted to her and so he didn’t drop the ball until he talked about the encounter with Sharon the next day. He told her about the incredible singer he met. He mentioned she worked at the hospital. He also made excuses for why he couldn’t remember her job. It was like he was ashamed of being attracted to a cleaning woman. And he couldn’t wait to get a text from the ED because then he didn’t have to tell Sharon the whole truth.

Charles got called in on a patient that everyone suspected had Alzheimer’s. The patient’s name was Dennis. Dennis was an older man whose wife died of that disease and his daughter was frightened of losing another parent to the same thing. He was disorientated. He didn’t know where he was. He had a hard time recognizing the people around him. It all seemed like Alzheimer’s. It was just Charles who tried to instill some hope by saying it might not be a degenerative disease. It could be depression. It could be the man’s mental state that’s making him act out of character. So, Charles was doing his best to talk to the patient when a familiar face came into the ED.

It was Grant. Maggie’s baby daddy. Maggie and Grant were in an accident a couple of weeks ago and, before they were hit by another car, they had a moment in which they became attracted to each other again. Something that Maggie didn’t want to happen. Maggie tried to cut Grant out of her life and he refused to leave. He kept coming up with excuses to see her again. He especially used their daughter to come by the hospital whenever he wanted. Only it was the car that got through to Maggie. Grant showed her the old car he had in high school and how he fixed it up and he convinced Maggie to go for a ride with them.

The ride turned to a close moment. The moment turned into a car accident. Maggie was alright. Grant had a nasty wound to his leg and that wound opened up again recently. Maggie saw him come in, but she didn’t go to him. She wanted to save her marriage to someone else and so she did her best to ignore Grant. She ultimately chose to focus on the patients she could help. Like Richard. Richard came in with a nasty wound to his head. He had another accident. Richard was dying of pancreatic cancer and it left him unstable on his feet. There was a chance he could have survived cancer if the tumor in his pancreas was removed only no doctors wanted to take the risk of removing it.

There was even a cancer board that agreed not to remove it because it was too risky. But they didn’t have the OR 2.0. Chicago Med received a state-of-the-art brand new operating room thanks to Crockett’s billionaire friend. The friend also wanted to see the new OR in use. He and a bunch of donors wanted to watch a surgery. Richard’s surgery. Crockett later agreed to perform on Richard. He was fine with taking risks. He just wasn’t comfortable with crowd-watching. He tried to speak up against it and his concerns were ignored. The crowd watched him perform. They watched every move he made and they would applaud if they liked what they saw.

Crockett found the whole thing humiliating. He still pulled off a successful surgery. Richard’s tumor has been removed and he might finally get chemotherapy. Only he noticed that the brand new AI that was supposed to help with the surgery had almost impeded it. The AI was set for someone cautious. Less efficient. Crockett was an incredible surgeon and so he spoke to the doctor in charge of the AI to fix the problem. She told him that it was going to be alright because the AI keeps learning. It all seemed very weird only Crockett was dealing with it as best as he could when Maggie got another surprise.

Maggie was standing outside of Grant’s OR waiting for news of his surgery when her husband stopped by the hospital. Ben had to hear from someone else that she had been in a car accident. His mind went to the worst possible scenario and he later accused Maggie of having an affair. He stormed off. He refused to hear her out. He also wouldn’t take any of her calls. Maggie had no idea how to fix her marriage, but she went ahead with celebrating her friend’s marriage. She had a cupcake party for Choi and April. April had to come into the hospital early because her father was sick. And thankfully her father’s surgery could be put off until after the wedding.

Everyone enjoyed the cupcake party. Charles also figured out what was wrong with his patient and it turns out it wasn’t Alzheimer’s. It was a simple illness that could be fixed by medication. He was so happy by that news that he told Sharon the truth about Lilliana. He also asked Lilliana out on a date. And she said yes.

At the end of it all, everyone went to Choi and April’s wedding. Which was beautiful and filled with everyone they love. April tossed her bouquet to Dr. Asher. They walked into their bright future not knowing that Dr. Archer was suffering from kidney damage or that Jack Dayton bought up controlling interests in the hospital.

It seems Crockett’s billionaire friend was now running things.

THE END!
